Answer the following questions as precisely yet as thoroughly as possible. (5 points each)
1. If you were an artist, what kind of artist would you be?
Art itself is a representation of grabbing people’s attention for the causes that would
normally be ignored. With that being said, I want to be a contemporary artist in a form of
photography. My desire as an aspiring artist is to put the expression of my eyes through
manipulating the lenses and lights. Capturing moments and forming images reflecting the
present society. I want to make my audience focus on something specific like depicting social
issues of the modern world. Lastly, I want my art to inspire people to have an action for global
problems and to make certain solutions out from it.
2. Why is art not nature?
To answer the question, let’s first differentiate nature from art. Nature is something that
is not made or created by humans. Nature is constant or occurring continuously in a period of
time. Nature is already given. Whereas to art, it is something that is manipulated and made by
humans through series of activities formed by imagination, creativity, and expression. Art is
used to represent interpretation of nature. To gain a broader insight on this assumption, the
example for this is the famous painting depicting to nature ‘The Great Wave Off Kanagawa’ by
Katsushika Hokusai. Art is not a nature; it is made through the artist creative mind as a product or
reception about nature. Therefore, anything that is man-made is an art.
3. Why is art ageless and timeless?
Art is the whole idea that creativity comes form the soul and that makes it
ageless. For further understanding, art is a record of creativity and product of
imagination of humans. Everything that we see around us is considered as an art, and
that process continues along time. This means that as long as there is life in this world,
art would never cease to exist. It does not only stay at those time that it was made but
art has the power connects the past, present, and the future together. Art subjects’
naturalistic manner of human behavior and expression that is why, regardless the time
and the age, art will continue to flourish. Even in the contemporary time, we still look
upon and appreciate those artworks that were created in the past and made a significant
impact to the society today. Art may progress but it never gets old. As such, art is a
record of people and their attitudes about life, culture, religion, faith, hopes, creativity,
and dreams.
4. Why does art involve experience?
No one can live a life without learning and experiencing something. Same goes
with art. Artist cannot be an artist if they don’t have the idea of how to make an art.
Those experience are drawn from inspiration with the person’s emotion, talents, and
skills. Art is like fishing. You cannot capture a fish if you don’t know how to set the bait.
In arts, in order for the artist to capture what is seen and what is felt, they need to
stimulate their creativity by having exposure to the message portrayed from its art. They
need the experience to express their emotions and to project deeper understanding of
the subject to the audience. With that, art makes more relatable and influential. Lastly,
experience allows the artist himself to strive for self-improvement, and perfection.
Observe the artworks given and explain the masterpieces carefully. (10 points each)
This unique art speaks a lot when it comes to wide variation of materials that is
expressed in the entire masterpiece. We can clearly see how the recycled materials like beads
are ensembled together to create unique texture to the art. The color and the texture are
associated together that draws the viewers physical and mental graphics of the artwork. It is
very interesting how those small pieces fit together creating an impressionism art through
collage.
It gives us an idea on how the image looks like from the distance and how the materials are
identified in a close up look. Putting everything together, this kind of art can make every
audience mesmerized by its characteristics.
The design of this art is vastly created from different elements of arts like its color,
shapes and lines, geometric forms, and organic forms. From the colors, it entails contrast
variation from warm and bright tones of yellow and orange and cool tones of blue and violet. It
comes from different designs like how broad and thick the strokes of the lines and patterns.
When it comes to the theme, it signifies calmness, strength, and beauty. We can really
distinguish how it is somehow related to nature just like how sun and moon symbolized as the
focus of the art. Overall, the combination of cool colors and geometric patterns gave the
masterpiece a strong visual pop.
The way I observed the artwork, it is very unusual for a grown-up to draw or paint this
kind of art. We can easily determine that this art is made by a kid. As an audience, it gives me a
simple representation of a series of child art. At the same time, it has this complexity of how the
drawing itself has an unusual geometrical shapes and patterns. The colors are also mixed up
and does not have a clear focus. The theme is purely schematic representation of color and
lines mixed up together. There is something in this art that gives the audience a bizarre
depiction with deep creative intentions.
I can see the generosity in color, light, and energy from this painting. It gives us a Van
Gogh vibe of art with small strokes of color but the style is more in impressionism kind of art . it
has wide variety of warm colors. It is very noticeable that the material used in the painting is
mostly oil in a canvas. The artist of this masterpiece gave their best personal expression
towards the different subject in the painting like the building, the grass, and the flowers. It allows
the viewers to also express their imagination to this landscape, how the theme depicts their
daily lives and as to how they see things creatively. Some parts of the painting are overlapping
and it that also displays abstract depiction of the art.
