Athletics in Ukraine

Athletics is one of the oldest sports originating in Britain in the 18th century. It includes running, walking, jumping and throwing events and has been an Olympic sport since 1896. Ukraine has had great success in athletics with stars like Sergei Bubka who set pole vault world records, Inessa Kravets who set the women's triple jump world record, and Yaroslav Moguchikh who is a recent bronze medalist in high jump at the 2020 Olympics and 2022 World Indoor Champion. Athletics continues to be a popular sport in Ukraine with national competitions dating back to the early 20th century.
