The Fool’s Journey

The learning process:

0 The fool represents the human being in life’s journey (experiences)


towards enlightenment, his progress towards fulfillment and complete
integration of ourselves.

What is the tarot?

There’s cosmic energy; akashic records; the tarot reader is a medium of


these energies; through grounding, clearing and meditation becomes a
tunnel.

Structure of the tarot deck:


-78 cards
-22 mayor arcana* (0-XXI)
-56 minor arcana*
-4 suits: 14 wands (fire) 14 swords (air) 14 cups (water) 14
pentacles (earth)
-Aces to 10’s (40 cards) + 16 court cards (pages, knights, queens,
kings)

Significations of mayor arcana cards

● major arcana cards represent big events and changes, new


chapters.
● minor arcana represents small events, everyday events and
changes.
● court cards represent influences (people, events, messages from
the tarot or from the universe)

MAYOR ARCANA

The fool starts his journey…

0 The Fool

● inexperienced, naive, the querent himself,


inexperienced soul (child, infant)
● new beginnings, excitement, new journey, ignorant of
the ways of the world.
● ignorance, fearlessness, joy about starting something
new, life journey, lust for life, thoughtlessness, lack of
caution

The fool meets the magician and he provides him the 4 suits, the 4
elements to manifest (fire, air, water, earth)

I The Magician

● create everything from nothing


● the origin of aces of each suit
● manifest anything in any aspect of the human life
● willpower, having power
● trickery and deception
● make an impact, take action
● concentrate, acting consciously
The fool continues his journey and meets the high priestess because he
doesn’t know what to do with the four elements given by the magician (4
suits) She says: “What does your instinct tell you?”

II The High Priestess

● a decision, decision making


● origin of the twos
● becoming calm and receiving guidance
● access your unconscious
● follow your intuition
● knowledge
● being quietly mysterious

Now, he knows what to do, the decision is clear; she says: “we’ll meet
again when you are ready to travel the most secret paths of all”. And
now with the knowledge of what he wants to do he comes to the
empress. The fool tells her that he knows what he wants but he doesn’t
know how to create it, she says “everything new is fragile”

III The Empress

● Mother archetype, creator of life, womb of a new idea


● if you create something you have to nurture it, care
for it, look after it, give it time and patience, give love
and attention like the love of a mother

● mothering, nourishment, nurturance, abundance, care

The fool doesn’t know how to manage what he created so he goes to the
emperor. He says “strong will and solid foundation of law and order”
IV The Emperor

● the father archetype


● protection, support, provider, disciplinarian, authority,
will power, exerting law and order
● an important male influence in the life of the querent,
husband, father, boss…
● achieving stability
● connected with the fours in the minor arcana
● solid foundation, achieve stability in every area of life

Now that the fool achieved stability he fears losing it all, he fears he’s not
good enough so he goes to a temple where he meets the hierophant, he
says “either give up what you fear to lose so it no longer has power over
you or think what you will still have after you’ve lost it”

V The Hierophant

● teacher, priest, advisor, answer, faith, tradition, wise


counsel
● wise and holy man
● education and belief system
● connects with the fives in the minor arcana
● problems, having more questions than answers
● fears
● conforming to social norms

Now the fool filled with energy, enthusiasm and confidence proceeds
and reaches a crossroad, there the fool meets a new girl who’s a part of
himself and they proceed together
VI The lovers

● crossroad, choices (duty versus desires; heart over


head)
● being in love, solutions
● relates to the sixes in the minor arcana

He continues his his journey and he encounters enemies and feels


stuck, he meets the chariot which invites him to “focus on victory, run
down the enemies”

VII The Chariot

● war, struggles, obstacles


● conquering your inner demons
● achieving heart control
● effort, managing responsibilities
● relates to the sevens in the minor arcana
● finding a way to succeed
● change and movement in terms of circumstances
● take command

Now that he is victorious over his enemies he feels lucky, arrogant,


powerful, vengeful, passionate he meets a madam who tells him “inner
passions need to be kept in rein; limitations help create something
higher”

VIII Strength

● achieve control
● inner strength
● being compassionate
● being patient
● relates to the eights in the minor arcana
● limitations
The fool has been busy all this time trying to build, create, love, fight,
compromise, feel, succeed, so now he needs to retreat to introspect so
he builds a home to rest and every night he goes out with a lamp to
guide his path, he becomes a hermit…

IX The Hermit

● connected to the nines in the minor arcana


● return to yourself
● think about all you’ve done and accomplished and
all that still needs to be accomplished
● we are the ones who can really teach ourselves the
most
● introspection, solitude, peace
● time of withdrawal
● desire to be alone
● inner search, inner guidance

After a period of time the fool starts to see the sunlight again, it’s time for
luck and change…

X The Wheel of Fortune

● completeness
● connected with the tens in the minor arcana
● rise and fall of fortunes
● it brings the message of karma
● what comes around, comes around
● luck, change and movement
● favours our destiny
● fortune, predestined karma
XI Justice

● blind and wise woman


● karma, objective balance

The fool meditates and fasts for 9 days on a tree, he hangs himself
upside down to find his spiritual self…

XII The Hangman

● change of perspective
● he dongles between material and spiritual worlds
● release, letting go
● suspending action completely for rebirth
● flexibility
● self sacrifice
● going inwards

From this state of mind the fool advances in his journey, he has a sense
of loss within him, he’s progressing in his spiritual journey, he starts
seeing signs of death around him so he asks himself “am I dead?”

XIII Death

● you are transformed


● physical death
● endings
● transformation
● sweeping change
● changing who you are
The fool now recovers from his sense of loss, he realizes that he has
been dealing opposites in the justice and hangman cards.

XIV Temperance

● moderation
● balancing
● harmony
● health and moderation
● compromise
● self control
● finding a balance

The fool moves on with his new spiritual self… now he meets the Devil.

XV The Devil

● half god, half goat


● bound by their own choice
● material enslavement through their desires
● bondage, being chained
● choosing ignorance

The fool continues his journey and he builds himself a tower.

XVI The Tower

● ego and arrogance


● shuttering ego, arrogance, lies.

The fool feels empty and starts walking to look for guidance, he comes
across a beautiful girl… she tells him “have faith and follow your star”

XVII The Star

● being hopeful
● there’s still hope for the future

In the journey of following his star the fool reaches a watery place, the
land of poets and emotions, uncontrolled emotions and mind.

XVIII The Moon

● imagination versus reality

● negative visions and illusions

He travels on a boat and later reaches…

XIX The Sun

● transformed new self


● transformed into a child
● feels like a child again
● rebirth, reborn
● finding your inner light

He hopes to find his final step but instead he finds an angel who speaks
to him and says “lay your past to rest”
XX Judgement

● release the past and the past versions of yourself

The fool gives his last step on the fool’s journey reaching back to the cliff
he began his journey, he takes his final step and instead of falling, he
flies higher, finishing where he began to start a new life.

● individual and world
● intuitive and mystic
● all these opposites are no longer choices but they are
part of the same one thing, both are doorways of the secrets of the

They represent minor and practical issues, life and everyday


experiences in different areas of the querent’s life which are
represented in:

READINGS

How to make predictions?

1. calm your mind through grounding, clearing and meditation


2. shuffle your cards as you want, divide the deck into sides, piles, cut and pull
the cards from the top, you or the querent, etc, the only rule is to not bend
them.
3. ask the question in your mind and keep it in mind
4. clarity in your mind gives clear readings
5. ask well framed questions with a focused mind
6. bear position in mind
7. interpretation: you can combine questions, positions, meaning of the cards.
8. allow questions, positions and meaning of the cards to come together
9. combine the story told by cards to get the full story

TAROTHOLOGÍA

El tarot es ciencia y arte, es una paradoja, es una puerta para descubrir lo que
necesitas, tiene como objetivos desarrollar el autoconocimiento, la capacidad de
observación, terapia (toma de decisiones), la realidad y percepción.

El tarot puede ser considerado peligroso porque la interpretación es subjetiva y la


imaginación súbita, pero no hay respuestas correctas o incorrectas… “todo es un
signo, pero nada es como parece” y se debe respetar lo que llega de manera súbita,
lo que analizas, el ejercicio intelectual es enemigo del tarot.

El tarot es un espejo, nos muestra lo que somos, dónde estamos, qué es lo que se
abre al futuro, lo que viene luego de lo que ha pasado.

Una sesión de lectura de tarot es un encuentro de 3: tú, el consultante y la


consciencia universal, el tarot es una puerta a la matriz del tiempo, a la máquina del
karma. El lugar de la tirada debe volverse un lugar sagrado.

Tipos de tiradas:

● de fuego: para el autoconocimiento (bastos-trebol)


● de agua: para el amor y las relaciones (copas-corazón)
● de aire: decisiones, preguntas abiertas (espadas-picas)

Preparación del espacio físico

★ Debemos preparar el espacio psíquico para que se presente la luz y no la


oscuridad en nuestra cabeza
