Welcome
e are excited to host you at Hemlock Haus. Our aim as hosts is to provide a 5 star stay for
W
everyone. If there is anything you feel would make your stay more enjoyable please send us a
message so that we can make adjustments for your next stay and future guests.
lease feel free to contact us during your stay if you have any immediate questions or concerns.
P
We can be contacted via AirBnB or directly on our cell phones below:

If we are not able to resolve the issue over the phone we have a service team that are regularly
on the mountain and live in Mission which is the closest city to Sasquatch Mountain.
Directions
If coming from Vancouver or Mission then head east along Lougheed Highway all the way to the
Sasquatch Inn. Turn left and follow signs to Sasquatch Mountain Resort. The turn on your left
up the mountain road is shortly after a gas station which might be a smart place to top up before
the 14km drive up to the resort. The first 2/3's of the road up to the mountain is paved but the
last 1/3 is a gravel forest service road maintained full time by a provincially contracted highway's
crew. The road can be tricky during winter so snowflake rated tires and other provincial
requirements are in place for everyone's safety.
If coming from the east, Harrison, Hope, Chilliwack etc then head past Harrison Mills and once
over the Harrison bridge turn right just past the Sasquatch Inn and follow the directions above.
s you round one of the final sharp left hand turns up the mountain and over a bridge next to
A
the big sewage pipes you'll be less than a km from the chalet. From here carry on for about 1km
until you pass the transfer station which is located behind a yellow gate. The next intersection
up Edelweiss Drive is where you take a left hand turn and then 20399 Edelweiss Drive is the
first cabin on your left next to the green roofed log cabin. You can Google "Hemlock Haus" for
directions too.

Parking
lease refrain from parking on the roads as during winter there are plows and graders passing
P
by at all hours several times a day. We have ample parking for up to 4 cars in winter and 6 in
summer. We recommend putting your car in 4WD Lo or AWD if your vehicle is so equipped
when leaving the property in order to get up the slight slope onto the main road when it is
snowy.
Snow clearing
e have a contractor on the mountain that takes care of snow clearing for the driveway and
W
driveway access. We always attempt to make sure that access is as easy as possible for your
arrival. However on days where there is continuous significant snowfall they may be an
accumulation between the clearing and your arrival. We always have a snow shovel readily
accessible near the front door for any in between shovelling that may be required.
There may be times during your stay where the plough will need to pass and you may get a
friendly toot on the horn requesting that you briefly move your vehicles to clear the snow.
Typically this happens when people are off on the mountain for the day but regardless, this
hopefully minor inconvenience is in order to make leaving the returning to the property as safe
as possible for everyone.

Power outage procedure
he mountain resort is relatively remote and up in the forest and therefore power outages may
T
occur. Should this happen we have flashlights in the kitchen drawers. 2 small safe to use inside
“Buddy Heaters” are located in the laundry closet with spare 1lb propane tanks for your use if
5
r equired. We also have a large EcoFlow battery bank in the laundry closet. This can be used
with extension cables to power a number of larger electrical items during a power outage. It
should power the fridge and other personal items for 36 hours if required. IF you have
experienced a power outage please let us know so that we can recharge the battery for future
guests after your stay.
Baby toddler items
We have the following baby and toddler items that can be made available upon request.
● Pack and play
● High chair
● Baby gate
Games, toys, plates and cutlery are already out in the main kitchen and main living spaces
Hot tub
lease use the plastic glasses provided in the kitchen for the hot tub and keep all glassware
P
indoors. There are blue and white patterned hot tub specific towels that should be used to avoid
any bleaching of the bathroom towels. These can be found on the laundry top and can be hung
to dry in the laundry on any of the hooks.Pleaserefrain from using the hot tub if you are
wearing fake tan, body oils or excessive sunscreen. The hot tub is a sensitive water
system and is significantly impacted by these. Showering beforehand can really help us
to maintain a sanitary and clear water environment for following guests. The hot tub can
be set to your desired temperature during your stay. Please set it to 100F before your departure.
The temperature can be set by pressing the Temp button as below. If the temperature is
heading in the wrong direction. Wait for a few seconds for it to stop flashing and then begin
pressing again in 1 degree increments. The lights can be activated and cycle through a few
color and flashing modes with the Light button and the massage button has a low and high
setting that cycles through with each press.
o close the hot tub cover please gently pull the cover down slowly. Forcing it down will damage
T
the lifters.
The most common issue with the hot tub is that it accidentally gets put into sleep mode. If the
display if flashing SL then it will not heat and needs to be cycled back to ST Standard mode. To
6
o this press the temperature button (triple up and down arrows symbol button) then the light
d
button (sun symbol button).
Wifi
here is a Starlink wifi hub set up. We are in a rural location and this is satellite internet so the
T
internet speed is not the same as you might be used to in the city but is certainly fast enough to
have several devices streaming simultaneously without any issues.
he network is called: HEMLOCKHAUS
T
The password is: S4squatch
Heating
he house is on electric central air. There is a Nest thermostat on the wall in the corridor of the
T
main floor. To increase and decrease the heat, place your finger on the right-hand exterior side
of the thermostat and run your finger up or down to set the desired temperature.
7
he house does heat up quickly so somewhere between 19.5 and 21.5 degrees celsius seems
T
to suit most people during winter. The system is set up to maintain a temperature of 19.5
degrees overnight if left unattended but if you set it to 20.5 before bed it will hold that overnight.
Upon departure please set the thermostat down to 15 degrees celsius. If you have any trouble
setting the thermostat please call us and we can adjust things remotely.
In summer we have fans in each bedroom and the normal mountain breeze can sweep through
the house if 2 few back and front windows are opened to help circulate the air. Who needs AC
when you have the fresh cool mountain breeze flowing through the house.
8
TV
he TVs are connected to the house wifi. You are welcome to log in with your own accounts for
T
Netflix, Crave, Amazon Prime etc. Please remember to log out before your departure but we will
also regularly sign all accounts out in case guests forget and leave them logged in.
Kitchen
he kitchen has cutlery, crockery, pots, pans and utensils. There is an electric kettle, toaster,
T
microwave, drip coffee machine, french press and other items that can be seen in the photos.
If you have any suggestions of items that are missing and would improve future guest stays we
would love to receive the feedback in a message.
On occasion previous guests may leave some consumables in the fridge or cupboards behind.
We try our best to ensure that those items are not expired or stale but ultimately it is up to guest
discretion and inspection as to whether you wish to consume these items. We as hosts do not
take any responsibility for those consumables.
9
BBQ
here is a propane BBQ on the back deck. Please ensure to turn off the gas valve before you
T
leave and give the grill a quick scrub over.
Laundry
he washing machine and tumble dryer are there for guest use if required. There is washing
T
machine detergent in the laundry vanity unit. If you use the washing machine please leave the
door open to prevent molding and excess humidity build up.
House rules
e mainly ask that you respect our space and treat it as you would your own. We understand
W

damaged so that we can replace it as soon as possible for the next guests.
● Please do not smoke inside the property or close to open doors and windows.
● No glass in the hot tub. Plastic cups are provided.

Groceries
here is a small store on the mountain called Hemlock Hollow located at20744 Mount Downing
T
Road Ground Floor, Hemlock Valley, BC V0M 1A1.Hoursmay vary so this should not be
depended upon as a primary stock up point but more for an emergency forgotten item. If coming
from Vancouver then we suggest using Walmart, Canadian Superstore, Save On Foods or
FreshCo in Mission. These are 50 minutes from the cabin. Alternatively there is a medium sized
grocery store in Agassiz called SuperValu that is 40 minutes drive from the cabin. There are a
few little convenience stores around, one in Deroche, one in Harrison Hot Springs etc.

Nature and wildlife
emlock Valley is located in a remote mountain environment. We share our space with the
H
localIt birds, mice, bears, racoons and coyotes. Please do your best to keep the decks clear of
food waste and garbage to reduce the draw of this wildlife to the property. Doors must be closed
and locked when not at the property to keep wildlife out. There are seasonal surges of bugs and
flies that come and go as the seasons and weather changes. This varies each year but we do
provide screens on all the opening windows and are soon to fit bug screens on the front and
back doors.
