Paint - Code 1

The document is a technical datasheet for paint that will be used on pipes, structures, and equipment at a 52,500 MTPA H2O2 plant and ECH plant. It provides details on the surface preparation required, primer and finish paint specifications including number of coats, dry film thickness, shade, drying time, and application requirements. The primer for carbon steel pipes is specified as red oxide zinc chromate at 25 microns per coat, and the finish paint is an industrial enamel at 2 coats of 25 microns each. For galvanized pipes, an etch primer of 10 microns is specified followed by the same industrial enamel finish. Equipment painting specifications refer back to the carbon steel pipe specifications.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

SURFACE PREPARATION & SUBSTRATE CONDITION:
– Steel; blast cleaned to Sa 2.5 of Swedish specification.
– If blast cleaning is impractical, remove loose rust/scale using power tools/ hand tools to achieve St3/ St2 grade of surface preparation, as per Swedish
standards.
– Remove contaminants like grease, oil etc. with aromatic solvents. Ensure the surface is clean and dry before priming
– Substrate temperature should be at least 3°C above dew point and not above 50°C

MIXING
If settling is observed in the drum, loosen the settled material with the help of hand stirrer followed by power driven stirrer for quick homogenous mixing.

Directions For Use

Surface Preparation

General
• Suitable alkyd / epoxy primer or intermediate coat, dry and free from any contamination.
• Ensure removal of dirt, dust, oil and all other contaminants that could interfere with adhesion of the coating. Oil
and grease should be removed as per SSPC-SP1 solvent cleaning.
• In case of aged alkyd or epoxy coating, the surface should be sufficiently roughened if necessary

PRODUCT DATA SHEET Page 1/3 Product Data Sheet - PC 7051

Application Conditions

• Substrate temperature should be at least 3°C above dew point but not above 50°C.
• Relative humidity should be below 85%
• Good ventilation is required in confined areas to ensure proper curing

Mixing

• If settling is observed in the drum, loosen the settled material with the help of hand stirrer followed by power driven
stirrer for quick homogenous mixing
• Thinner should be added after mixing. Addition of excessive thinner will lead to reduced sag resistance.

Application

Air Spray
Recommended thinner T - 284
Volume of thinner 10 - 15%
Nozzle orifice 1.5 - 3.0 mm
Nozzle Pressure 0.3 – 0.4 MPa

Cleaning Thinner T - 284

Airless Spray
Recommended thinner T - 284
Volume of thinner 0 - 5%
Nozzle orifice 0.28 mm (11 Thou)
Nozzle Pressure 12 MPa
(= approx. 120 atm; 1700 p.s.i.)

Cleaning Thinner T - 284

Brush / Roller
Recommended thinner T - 284
Volume of thinner 0 - 5%

Cleaning

• Do not allow the product to remain in hoses, gun or spray equipment. Clean all equipments immediately after use
with thinner T -284. It is recommended to periodically flush out spray equipment during the course of the working
day. The frequency of cleaning will depend on amount sprayed, temperature and time gap.
• All surplus material and empty containers should be disposed off in accordance with appropriate regional legislation.

Product Characteristics

• The product is not recommended for continuous immersion in water or continuous splash of water
• The maximum performance is achieved after complete drying
• At higher relative humidity, drying may get retarded
• At higher DFT wrinkling of the surface will be seen

SURFACE PREPARATION
STEEL: Remove grease, oil and other contaminants preferably by using Bison Degreasing Solvent Blast clean to a
minimum Sa 2 1/2 Swedish Standards SIS 05 5900 with a surface profile not exceeding 65 microns.
If blasting is not practical, make full use of mechanical tools alongwith manual chipping and wire brushing to remove
loose rust and scale to St2 Swedish Standard SIS 05 5900. Excessive burnishing of steel is to be avoided. Thoroughly
dust down all surfaces. Best results can be achieved if the manually cleaned surface is treated with Bison Metal
Conditioning Solution.
The surface should be clean and dry before application of appropriate primer coat.

APPLICATION _
Mix the contents thoroughly before and during use.

Brush: Apply without any thinning.

Airfess spray: Add upto 5% Thinner 800 if required. Use any standard equipment having pump ratio 30: 1. Tip size
0.28.0.38 mm. tip pressure 110-160 kg 1 cm2.
