Purging: -
Purging is a term used when utilizing a gas on the backside of a weld. Generally, to keep it from oxidizing, but
in retrospect itis to keep the microstructure of the entire weld the same. An inert gas must be used to keep
the materials from reacting.
What is the purpose of purging?
With purging, a gas is used to protect the weld seam until it has cooled to the point that oxidation no longer

Weld purging is a process where oxygen is evacuated from a pipe, tank, or chamber using a noble gas such

and loss of corrosion resistance
