LP Respiratory

The document outlines the procedure for a lesson on the respiratory system. It includes the objectives to describe respiratory system function and uses, participate in class discussion, and answer activity questions. The lesson proper involves motivating students with a picture activity, discussing the parts and functions of the respiratory system through a question-and-answer format, having students label a diagram, and assigning a drawing of the respiratory pathway. Key respiratory organs discussed are the nose, mouth, pharynx, larynx, trachea, bronchi, and lungs.

I.

Objectives
At the end of the learning session, the students should be able to:
a. Describe the function and uses of respiratory system;
b. Participate actively in class discussion; and
c. Answer simple activity in the book.

II. Subject Matter

a. Topic: Respiratory System pages: 25-30
b. Reference: Science in Action 6
c. Authors:
d. Materials: pictures, chart

III. Procedure

A. Daily Routines
a. Prayer
b. Greetings
c. Checking of Attendance

B. Lesson Proper
Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

a. Motivation

Before we proceed to our next topic, let’s

have an activity first. I have a picture
here and you will describe the picture.

Yes ma’am!

What did you observed in the picture?

There’s a lungs ma’am.

Very good!
What else?

Amazing! It shows how we breathe.

b. Discussion

Based from our activity, it shows some of

our organs that are responsible for our
breathing.

What do you think the primary organs

that we need for breathing?

Nose
Pharynx
Larynx
Trachea
Bronchi
Lungs
Great!

What do you call the series of organs

responsible for taking in oxygen and
expelling carbon dioxide?

Respiratory System
Very good!

When you hear the Respiratory System,

what comes into your mind?

transporting nutrients to keep the lungs

clean, and healthy.
Excellent!

The respiratory system is a biological

system consisting of specific organs and
structures used for gas exchange in
animals and plants.
Based on the activity earlier, you saw the
different parts of a Respiratory System.
Let’s discuss first the nose.

What comes into your mind when you

hear the word nose?

The nose and nasal cavity form the main

external opening for the respiratory
system and are the first section of the
body’s airway—the respiratory tract
through which air moves.
Marvelous!

Next is the mouth. What is the function

of mouth in our respiratory system?

The mouth, also known as the oral cavity,

is the secondary external opening for the
respiratory tract. Most normal breathing
takes place through the nasal cavity, but
the oral cavity can be used to
supplement or replace the nasal cavity’s
functions when needed.

Very good!

The third is the pharynx. Do you know

what is pharynx?

The pharynx, also known as the throat,

the pharynx connects the nasal cavity
and mouth cavity.
Good!
The fourth is the larynx.

What is the function of larynx?

The larynx, also known as the voice box.

It contains the vocal cords that vibrate to
produce sound when you talk.

Nice!

The next is the trachea. What is the use

of trachea?
The trachea connects the larynx to the
bronchi and allows air to pass through
the neck and into the thorax.

Great!

The second to the last organ is the

bronchi. What is the use of bronchi? are the main passageway into the lungs.
When someone takes a breath through
their nose or mouth, the air travels into
the larynx.

Excellent!

The last organ are the lungs. What is the

function of lungs? The lungs are the main respiratory
organs where the exchange of gases
occurs.

Very Good!
c. Generalization

What are the parts of the Respiratory

System?

Nose
Mouth
Pharynx
Larynx
Trachea
Bronchi
Lungs

Excellent!

d. Application

Let’s have an activity class! You will

label the picture. You will choose the
right answer in the box.
e. Evaluation

a. Arrange the scrambled letters to

form the word that is described.

_____1. slugn – the main organs of

respiration.
_____2. anxphyr – also known as a
throat.
_____3. heartac – also known as a
windpipe.
_____4. xarlyn – also known as a
voice box.
_____5. chonbir – tubes that lead to
lungs.

b. Write the function of the

following.

1. Lungs
2. Trachea
3. Bronchi
4. Larynx
5. Pharynx
6. Nose

f. Assignment
Draw a pathway of air in the
respiratory system.

Good bye, class!

Good bye, ma’am!
