I am writing to express my enthusiastic interest in pursuing a master's degree in Cyber Security at
Teeside University. My academic background in Computer Technology has equipped me with a
comprehensive understanding of computing systems, programming languages, and software
development. My decision to specialize in Cyber Security is driven by a passion for addressing the ever-
growing challenges posed by cyber threats in today's digital age.
The decision to pursue my studies in the UK is rooted in the country's reputation for academic excellence
and its status as a global hub for technology and innovation. Teeside University's commitment to
practical, hands-on learning and its strong industry connections make it an ideal institution to further my
education in Cyber Security. The program's emphasis on real-world applications aligns with my career
goals, as I aspire to contribute actively to the field of cybersecurity by implementing effective solutions
and best practices. Teeside University's recognition for fostering innovation and its dedication to
producing industry-ready graduates make it the perfect choice for my academic and professional growth.
Additionally, the UK's diverse and inclusive environment will contribute to my overall development,
preparing me to thrive in an international context. When checking the ratings for study destinations
United Kingdom was given the most priority under technical subjects and the UK has a great reputation
for attracting some of the most successful intellectuals from around the world. When studying in United
Kingdom it will also serve as an exposure to learn the environment that encourages for borderless
innovation. I selected UK due to variety of reasons having researched all other options for me to seek
into majority the cost of tuition and living cost is less compared to countries like Australia, New Zealand,
US and Canada. Diploma and similar courses which are offered from the UK Universities and college are
highly reputed in all over the world and quality of education is high standard and living pattern is almost
the highest in the world. In addition to that the course duration is less in the UK. Furthermore, the UK is
known for its multicultural society, with all religions and faiths represented in some way. Personal liberty
is largely celebrated in the UK comparing other to other countries. Also, UK is the most popular
destination for overseas student in the world with vast majority of international students being from the
south Asian region, it would make me to ease off in getting adopted to the UK culture after landing in the
UK and which is the best option available for me.
Moreover, Academic qualifications issued from United Kingdom are highly advantageous for a country
like Sri Lanka due to its worldwide recognition. And hands-on work experience gain in the United
Kingdom considered unique in Sri Lanka. I’ve heard and read from blogs and have understood the United
Kingdom’s expectation from foreign students, I guarantee compliance with the laws that bind the
country, my country of study, and the university
Before select the University, I went though the number of international student review and the success
stories that make it happen to the higher studies. As mentioned in the course overview, pursuing this
course will give me a vast knowledge about Project Management which, I could not gain before from any
other degree program. Moreover, this would be an immense opportunity to study management side,
which will give me the expertise to ramp up my management skills as well as leadership qualities.
Besides, learning Computer technology Cybersecurity I will gain me more career opportunities in the IT
field as a Consultant . Apart from that, another factor that I considered in the process of selection is the
rank and the reputation of the university. The reason is the university, which I have studied for my
degree, is ranked at 1500+. Therefore, I wanted a university with good reputation with a good rank, and I
found University ranked is far better than I previously studied. The University of is home to nearly 2,500
foreign students from over 130 countries. The University is nationally acknowledged and globally
recognized, with four stars in the most current QS international rankings and a graduate employment
rate of 96%. (DLHE 2018).
Three faculties provide courses in over 70 different topic areas, with many of them being approved by
professional groups.
After completing my master's programme, this knowledge and experience will guide me to find the ideal
job in my home country, Sri Lanka. I have positive thoughts that this qualification will help me to stand
out in the recruitment process. With enormous developments in my country and the increasing demand
for skilled labour, finding a suitable job in Sri Lanka won't be a problem.
from the United Kingdom is important to me, because it will help me to scale my career in this field. I
would be most honoured if granted access to further my studies.
In conclusion, the academic rigor, research opportunities, and industry relevance offered by Teeside
University make them my top choices for pursuing a master's degree in Cyber Security. The UK's
commitment to excellence in education, coupled with the multicultural experience it offers, will
undoubtedly enhance my skills and prepare me for a successful career in Cyber Security. While my
academic journey begins in the UK, my ultimate goal is to bring back the knowledge and expertise gained
to contribute to the cybersecurity landscape in Sri Lanka, fostering digital security and innovation in my
home country.
