Cat 330 BL

Two new relief valves were added to the main control valve on several excavator models to improve the smoothness of swing operations. The 147-4163 and 147-4161 Relief Valve Groups replaced older valves in the 107-7011 and 107-7014 Control Valve Groups, which are components of the 107-7010 Test Valve Group. The changes decrease negative control pressure during initial swing movement. Illustrations show the locations of the control valve groups and new relief valves.

New Relief Valves In Main Control Valve Improve Swing

Operation {5051,5454}

330B (9HN, 8SR),

330B L (2RR, 3YR, 6DR, 8TR, 1JS, 4RS, 5LS),
330B LN (5LR) Excavators

Description of Change: Two new relief valves in the main control valve are used to decrease
negative control pressure. The lower pressure produces a smoother movement during the initiation of
the swing operation.

Adaptable To: The new 147-4163 Relief Valve Group is used in place of the former 109-5152
Relief Valve Group in the 107-7011 Control Valve Group.

The new 147-4161 Relief Valve Group is used in place of the former 109-2667 Relief Valve Group
in the 107-7014 Control Valve Group.

The control valve groups listed are components in the 107-7010 Test Valve Group. The test valve
group that utilizes the new relief valves is effective with 330B L (3YR490-Up, 6DR1547-Up,
4RS650-Up, 5LS205-Up) and 330B LN (5LR297-Up) Excavators. The effective serial number of the
test valve group is 1450-Up for 330B L (6DR) Excavators.

Illustration 1 shows the location of the control valve groups in a unit test valve group. Illustrations 2
and 3 detail the location of the new relief valve groups in a control valve group.
