Chief Minister’s Breakfast Scheme

Announcement has been made by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on 07.05.2022 under Rule110 that Breakfast will be provided to primary school children from 1st to
5th standard studying in Government schools on all school working days and the scheme has been launched on 15.09.2022 at Madurai by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil
Nadu. In the first phase, Corporations, Municipalities and Panchayats were selected based on high prevalance of Aneamia as per NHFS-5 data, economically bakward blocks as
per SBGF, habitations of Tribal population and inaccessibility of the areas,will be covered under this scheme. Atpresent 1,14,095 primary school children studying in 1545
Government schools will be covered under the schemeat a total cost of Rs.33.56 crores which will be extended to remaining schools in phased manner.

The proposed different types of menu for Breakfast are as follows:

5 Fridays Sweet type Rava Kesari/

The quantity of raw material will be 50 grms per child per day. Locally available Millet based Breakfast also be utilised for atleast 2 days a week. This will ensure approximately
293.40 calories of energy, 9.85 grms of Protein, 5.91 grms of Fat, 1.64grms of iron and 20.41 grms of calcium for each child.
