EDUM110 – CHILD AND ADOLESCENT LEARNERS AND PRINCIPLES OF
LEARNING
Name: Mariah Moira Parco
INSTRUCTION:
After watching “Every Child is Special”, write an INTEGRATION
PAPER. Find connections between the lessons discussed and what
you have seen from the film. NO NEED to narrate the story again.
INTEGRATION PAPER is affect-based. This is good for 50 points.
The rubrics attached may help.
Seeing the movie taught me a lot. Imagine a child in a situation where nobody knows what
they are going through, not even their parents. Above all, he was castigated for being lazy and
mischievous. He is punished for even the smallest mistake without understanding the child's
motivations. He is not even given the chance to defend himself. I am aware that all parents desire
the best for their children, but sometimes that is not what the parents believe or understand. His
child has developed depression as a result of his parents' inability to relate to them. Sometimes
it's important to take a child's viewpoint, emotions, and skills into account. The parent possesses
the Asking your kids going about their lives and spending time getting to know them better as
parents will help them open up to you. We have to acknowledge that every child is entitled to
understanding. Second, the movie depicts a variety of instructors and their methods of
instruction. For example, one type of instructor placed a high priority on the academic
achievement of their students. Due to an educator who places a strong emphasis on discipline, a
who whacks a student's hand five times when the student is unable to respond to questions, and a
lack variety of learning styles, awareness that they are only concerned with the child ’s cognitive
development and not their talents or interests. The persona of Ram Shankar Nikumbh perfectly
captures the attributes of an exceptional educator—one who not only imparts knowledge but also
serves as an inspiration to others. He also shows no fear in utilizing novel and non-traditional
approaches to instruct his students. A teacher who offers extra time to help a student who is
struggling with a subject and who approaches problems with positivity when dealing with them
are both examples of effective educators. What a fantastic instructor and real role model. I came
to understand that the child's growth was stunted in the movie because neither his teachers nor
his own family acknowledged his special needs. They didn't realize it was their fault for not
recognizing a child's additional needs, so they accused him of being a dumb, unintelligent,
stubborn, and hopeless child. Ishaan's mother felt obligated to fulfill her husband's expectations
of her, so she put pressure on her son to be the child he wanted. Ishaan needs his father's care,
understanding, and patience and because of his disorder, his aspirations for his children, his
father was oblivious and frequently made comparisons between Ishaan and his older brother
Yohan, who is completely different from Ishaan. Society did not acknowledge the special needs
of a child with a disorder like Ishaan. When we observe a child similar to him, we automatically
conclude that he or she is mentally ill, and we continue to pass judgment on him.
If I have the chance to put what I've acquired and realized into practice, I'll use it as a daily
reminder to remind myself that, as their educator, I have a duty to fulfill each needs of individual
students for as long as I can because I'm their parental figure, most trusted adviser, and true
inspiration who appreciates their existence, needs, and brightest future. I would try my hardest to
use all of my knowledge and abilities to help someone like Ishaan achieve their goals if I had the
chance to meet them. I'm willing to employ any tactic, like Mr. Ram's, that works for their
multiple intelligences and learning preferences. You can employ any method as a teacher as long
as you remember the uniqueness of your students. For instance, Mr. Ram Shankar Nikumbh uses
a very well-crafted story full of phrases, jokes, and excitement to draw in his students. In this
story, he describes the difficulties some students have with writing and reading. When he
disclosed that these hard-working pupils included, among others, Pablo Picasso, Leonardo da
Vinci, and Albert Einstein, the students were shocked. Using writing sand, clay, chalk, touch,
and movement, Mr. Ram Nikumbh employed a multiple sensory approach to make reading and
writing more engaging and concrete.
To sum up, Ishaan's inability was due to his parents—especially his father—his teachers,
and society today's unwillingness to acknowledge his unique needs. Having been cut off from his
family, he lost all hope of ever getting help. Often, we are so focused on fulfilling educational
requirements and rigid regulations that we lose sight of the importance of the kids.
