Statement of the Problem

Workplace stress during the present recession may reflect this unusual convergence of
stressors, which "feeds into one another" to boost stress levels everywhere. Although there isn't
any concrete evidence to support it yet, many professionals and other experts in the industry are
sure that there is a link between workplace violence and economic downturns. Also, the average
coworker is unlikely to suddenly become violent, and financial stress alone won't make someone a
killer. As Jason Rodriguez stated, similarly, there are many pressures on the world today, notably to
learn more and more than the past for their better future, such as marital and mental health issues,
unemployment, debts, poverty, and swirling rage. Many workplace structures make people or
employees stressed out by enforcing discipline, preventing them from interacting with peer groups,
assigning them difficult and demanding tasks, and more.

According to numerous research publications on workplace stress levels, businesses are

maintaining a steady follows the recommended stress levels to improve employee performance.
But it was also noted that these kinds of things wouldn't do much to preserve the delicate balance
between stress levels, motivation, and one's welfare. To be eligible and completely engaged in the
competitive climate inside the existing organization, the level of pressure or the stress that might
occasionally develop can also work as a motivator, according to Papasolomou Doukakis et al.
(2004). Also, work stress happens when employees encounter uncomfortable or negative
emotional states at work. Stress was defined as the negative feelings such as anger, annoyance,
worry, rage, and depression (Newton 2009)

Furthermore, working with coworkers who one doesn't 'get along with' or enjoy can be a
major source of stress at work (Michie, 2002). Giga and Hoel (2003) stated, “spending many hours
each day with people you hate can be very bad for your long-term health, specially, if an employee
gets angry or resentful regularly it will badly affect to the health of the employee.”. Employees
should always look for ways to enhance their interactions with coworkers and lower their risk of
developing workplace stress. According to Asif (2009), a person's job fitness and qualification will
assist them to feel less stressed at work. Only employees who are qualified for the position will
carry out their duties and meet the standards. Employees will face issues if he or she is unable to
accomplish the duties of his or her position owing to a lack of knowledge or abilities. An employee
will perform better on the job and experience less work pressure if they have the necessary skills
and mindset (Levey, 2001).

The purpose of this paper is to know more about how to cope up work pressure and how to
help employees and worker to gain more knowledge by enforcing discipline. Here’s the following
question to back up the study:

1. What are the effects of work to the stress-level of the workers/employees?

2. What impact does the encouragement given have on employees' attitude and quality of
work?

assistance programs

1. STRENGTHS
1.1 Employers explicated the workplace issue

Having an employer that are paying attention to the problem and taking successful preventive
measure in the workplace is every employee’s treasure. This will positively help the management to
perceive and understand the mental capabilities of the employees. That will result to a very
productive workplace.

2. WEAKNESSES
2.1 No hard data linking workplace violence

There are no enough research to linked the reason of the workplace violence. The management
must allocate funds for research and development to benefit the employees that helped the
company’s growth.

3. OPPORTUNITIES
3.1 Other businesses implemented employee assistance programs.
Since the firm is pioneering the implementation of employee assistance programs, that is the
reason why other businesses has already been stating to apply and deal the problem of workplace
violence. This will help the recognition of the firm and to credit the initiative as well.

4. THREATS
4.1 Increasing business competition.

Since the issue on workplace violence is arising and considering the fact that there is no data linking
to the said issue, competition between companies will arise as well. That the firm must have
research and strategies to rise above others and to achieve successful and productive workplace for
the employees.

Alternative Courses of Action

This section of the study includes practical solutions that the institution might consider to
enhance its approach in achieving overall objectives. These are a few possible answers to the issue
that has been determined. Therefore, these decisions are carefully assessed in the context of the
organization's SWOT analysis.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

The employee Assistance program is well known as intervention-based program that aimed
to assist employees in resolving issues that may impair their performances.

A. Employee Assistance Program

According to Upsite Health (2019), The purpose of EAP is to balance employee’s work and
personal life. Workplace stress is rising, but employees aren't always asking for assistance. Numerous
sources of stress, including rivalry among coworkers, heavy workloads, concerns about job security,
and personal issues, are making things difficult. Businesses can make efforts to handle issues like
work-life balance and concerns about job security, but they may not always be aware of how an
employee's personal life is affecting their performance at work. Employee assistance programs are
benefits provided to aid in managing a range of potential difficulties that could have an impact on
job performance.
The EAP is intended to assist that employee as soon as possible. When she begins to feel
unwell, she can contact the EAP provider to talk about the issue and be put in touch with the
appropriate support systems. She'll start feeling better, she won't miss as many days of work, and
everything will be much better overall. EAPs is a continuous effort rather than a one-time task. The
goal is to constantly communicate those specifics and the wide range of services made available
through the program. Employees may mistakenly believe that an EAP is exclusively for mental health
issues and be unaware that it may also assist with issues like resolving disagreements at work.
Employee assistance programs (EAPs) information may be provided during the new hiring process,
but it is important to keep the services available so that employees are aware of them.

Solution:
1. Monthly Psychological Test and Counselling
• This test can help determine employee’s strength and weakness, identify potential problems,
emotional reactivity and can make recommendations for treatment/remediation and to aim a
healthy and productive outcome.

2. Team building with incentive compensation

• According to Fapohunda, T. (2013), A significant proportion of organizational change and
careful thinking are required for the implementation and support of teams in a company. The team
members connections inside the company are all impacted. One of the primary goals of team
building is to improve communication between team members and between individuals.
Additionally, productivity and creativity have grown. Better operating standards and procedures are
another goal of team building, which will inspire team members to work toward shared objectives.
Additionally, it aims to foster an environment of cooperation and cooperative problem-solving as
well as defined work objectives. With team building, varied coworkers collaborate effectively and
there are higher levels of commitment and job satisfaction. Team building is proven efficient when
it comes to motivating employees in working together and to improve communication in the
workplace. It is believed to be exciting for all the employees to check their strengths and weakness
as well so that the management would know how to utilize their mental capability. The purpose of
incentive compensation is to encourage employees to join the team building activities.
Advantages of Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

1. EAP helps employees to increase their productivity, retention, and safety which that can save
their time and their money as well because raising safety of employees lessens their illnesses and
injuries.

2. EAP makes them feel that their employer is concerned about them which can lower their anxiety
in working and can boost their excitement and willingness to work.

Disadvantages of Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

1. EAP has a complicated system access. In which if they want to access their EAP services, they
must first go to their HR and have their screening which sometimes if by a referral process.

2. There are some EAP that offers low or insufficient sessions each employees need. 2-3 session is
normal but what about employees with many issues, which that normal session is not enough for
them.

Recommendation
Based on the findings and conclusions presented, the management of the company and the
employees are already aware of the impact that work-related stress has on their personal lives. The
findings that the expense of stress-related leave is significantly higher than the cost the business
would incur in providing employees with support to manage or prevent stress. We suggested a
solution that could be fully integrated into the existing body of knowledge in addition to being cost-
effective. The application of this alternative should go smoothly.
