Overview: This course, “Enhancing Speaking Skills for Effective Communication” is designed for high
school students (Grade 7-10) to empower them with the necessary tools and strategies to become confident and
proficient speakers. This course focuses on various aspects of speaking, including clarity of speech,
vocabulary expansion, confidence building, effective use of language, and presentation skills. Through a
combination of targeted instruction, practice activities, and feedback, learners will develop the skills needed to
communicate effectively and articulate their thoughts, ideas, and feelings in various contexts.
Rationale: This course "Enhancing Speaking Skills for Effective Communication" is specifically designed to
cater to the needs of high school students in grades 7 to 10. This stage of education is crucial for developing
essential communication skills that will benefit students throughout their academic journey and future
careers.The rationale behind this course is to equip students with the necessary skills to communicate
confidently and effectively in both academic and real-life situations.
II. Target Audience:
Grade Level: The curriculum is specifically designed for students in grades 7 to 8, targeting their unique
developmental needs and focusing on enhancing their speaking skills to meet the expectations at this stage of
their education.
Background: The target audience for the course "Enhancing Speaking Skills for Effective Communication"
comprises a diverse group of students with varying levels of proficiency in speaking. These students come
from diverse cultural backgrounds and exhibit individual learning styles and abilities

By the end of the course, students will:

Speech and Presentation Guides: There are numerous books and guides available on public speaking and
presentation skills. These resources offer valuable tips, techniques, and strategies to improve your delivery,
overcome nervousness, and engage your audience effectively
Audio and Video Materials: Listening to audio recordings or watching videos of proficient speakers can be
highly beneficial. TED Talks, podcasts, interviews, and speeches by renowned speakers can serve as
inspiration and provide you with examples of effective communication techniques, storytelling, and persuasive
speaking.
Texts: The curriculum incorporates a diverse selection of texts, including fiction and non-fiction articles, short
stories, poems, and excerpts from novels. This diversity aims to engage students with various writing styles
and perspectives.
Online Resources and Courses: Take advantage of online resources, such as websites, blogs, and online

communication skills with the use of technology and harvesting learning at the same time.
Online platforms: iTalki and speaky. Two examples of online platforms that will help to improve the learners
speaking skills and by this improvements will be on time.

Promotes understanding and unity within intercultural communication. The course highlighted the
importance of verbal and non-verbal communication, in conveying information effectively across different
culture. It also builds the learner’s confidence in cross cultural communication. The way we speak, the tone of
our voice, our facial expressions, and even our body language can mean different things in different cultures.
Understanding these nuances can help us avoid misunderstandings and promote harmony in our interactions.
Prepare students for career opportunities. this course emphasize the significant role of speaking skills in
economy and work related opportunities that requires effective communication. enabling Grade- 10 students
to understand that, speaking skills open up a wealth of opportunities, and particularly relevant not only in our
country, but also globally, where many work in industries like tourism, overseas employment, and call centers,
all of which require excellent communication skills.
XI. Parent and Community Involvement:
Public Speaking Workshops: Organize workshops where students can learn and practice public speaking.
Inviting local community leaders as guest speakers can provide students with real-life examples of effective
communication.
Cultural Exchange Program: Organize a cultural exchange program where students, parents, and community
members can share about their cultures. This can include traditional stories, dances, songs, and customs.
Storytelling Sessions: Arrange regular storytelling sessions where students, parents, and community members
can share stories. This can be done in different languages to promote understanding of diverse cultures

evaluate themselves on what area of speaking skills they are less capable and highly capable, discovering their

include debates and discussions. In Drama, focus on role-playing and expressive speech. Science discussions
can develop technical communication, while History debates foster argumentation. Integrate multimedia

Physical Education can incorporate team-building communication activities. This interdisciplinary approach
