4.1 Introductory Word Drill:
Activity (5min.) Kingfisher – a type of brightly colored bird that has a long, thin bill
and that catches fish by diving into water.
Bearer – the person who bears or carries something
Memoir – a written account in which someone describes past
experiences
Bruise – to hurt through speech or actions
Ancestral – related to an inherited from your ancestor

Motivation:
Group Activity: Pinoy Henyo Game
Instructions: The students are grouped into 5. Each group will be
given 3 sets of words in a flash cards form in which they have to
guess. The first answered word has a connection to the second and
third words.

17 min.) GALLERY WALK
 The students are grouped into three. Each group will roam
around the classroom for the gallery presentation. The
students also will answer the questions provided every
station.
Note: The teacher will provide handouts and allow students to use
their cellular phones for their references.
Station 1. Tagalog Literature
 What is the very first book published in the Philippines?
 What is/are the context/s of Doctrina Christiana?
 Who is known as the “Father of Philippine National
Language and Grammar?
Station 2. Cebuano Literature
 Who is the “Father of Cebuano Literature”?
 What are the themes that local Cebuano authors usually
used?
 Who is Ernesto Lariosa?
Station 3. Maranao Literature
 What influenced the Muslim writers in most of their writing?
 Give examples of the following oral tradition of Maranao
Literature:
 Folktale (tutul)
 Love poems (tubad – tubad)
 Sayings and proverbs (pananaro-on)
 Drama (sowa-i)
 Riddles (antoka)
 Epic Poetry (darangan)

4.3 Analysis The teacher elicits prior knowledge of the students through asking

 How do you know about the literature from different regions
in the Philippines?
 What Regional literature would you prefer to fit yourself in?
 If given a chance to make any literary pieces, what theme
would you like to use?
 Who are some of the famous writers that you know in the
country, in the region, in the province? Cite some of their
literary pieces.
 As a Boholano Youth, what is your role in improving the
literature in your region?
4.4 Abstraction (15 Interactive Discussion
min.) The teacher shares to the class the biography of the different writers
in the locality, highlighting their achievement in the literary field.
Also, he/she will give the birds-eye-view of their literary piece/s.
