IDENTITY

This document discusses identity and transformation through Christ. It begins by defining identity and noting that our identity comes from what God says, not people. It then discusses how humanity lost its original identity through sin but can be redeemed through Jesus. Finally, it talks about the process of transformation in Christ, including repentance from sin and allowing God to continue changing our thoughts and ways to be more like His. The key is responding rightly to God to experience ongoing renewal as Christians mature in their faith.

(Teach the “A Heart for You” song by Scott Wesley Brown”)

IDENTITY (Merriam Webster)

: the distinguishing character or personality of an individual

Your identity is not defined by what the world and people say about you, don’t be swayed by your
educational attainment, upbringing, family and where you came from. We are defined by what God says to
us, how He sees us.

We are so privileged to be born at this generation, but we are also have a great responsibility and a part to
play.

Privilege - Imagine the sacrifices of the church forefathers, the martyrs, and missionaries, they had great sacrifices -
Leaving their loved ones for the gospel, imprisoned and even killed and we are enjoying our faith at the present!
1. Martyrs - The Apostles, William Tyndale - translated the New Testament and some part of O.T
2. Missionaries - Hudson Taylor, Jonathan Goforth, William Carey (Father of Modern Missions), etc
3. Christians in other country at the present - Imprisoned and persecuted because of their faith and the Gospel.
In the Philippines, we can read the Bible for free, preach the word and meet together for fellowship. Maybe we can
only be persecuted thru words and jesting.

Responsibility - The Lord is raising up this generation to prepare the Way of the Second Coming of Christ.
The enemy is doing his things 24/7, he doesn’t sleep. The devil is spending billions of money up to the present to
destroy God’s people and humanity.
However the Lord is raising up John the Baptists, who will prepare for His Second coming, He is searching for
people who are available and qualified. Are you available?
May we hit the mark of our calling.

I. God’s Identity
 Ask some people about the Identity of God. (3-5 person)

God’s Character
Psalm 103 : 1
The LORD works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed. The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to
anger, abounding in love. he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. as far as
the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
We were created in His image,

His plan for us is to take dominion over the creatures of the earth.
Genesis 1: 26 - 27
- We are Created according to His Image and Likeness (Character)
- Take Dominion over creatures
Sadly, instead of people taking dominion over creation and creatures, it is becoming the other way.
Examples:
1. Traditions of men - Some Cordillera Traditions - Creatures determine one’s future (Bad omen) (Pigs) (Black
cats)
- dog pets and cats are priority (Traditions of men rather than the traditions of God), abstain from food
1 Timothy 4: 1 - 4 (New Living Translation)
Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will turn away from the true faith; they will follow
deceptive spirits and teachings that come from demons. 2 These people are hypocrites and liars, and their
consciences are dead.[a]

3 They will say it is wrong to be married and wrong to eat certain foods. But God created those foods to be eaten
with thanks by faithful people who know the truth. 4 Since everything God created is good, we should not reject any
of it but receive it with thanks. 5 For we know it is made acceptable[b] by the word of God and prayer.
2. New Age Teachings
- People calls the earth as Mother Earth, positivity, yoga, accepts all religion
Your Mother Earth is my Father’s footstool
3. Others…

II. LOST/DESTROYED IDENTITY

Romans 5: 12
12 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death
came to all people, because all sinned—— (ADAM)
A. Identity Theft
1. The Story of Jacob and Esau
Esau sold his birthright to Jacob, he exchanged his calling for just a bowl of soup.
May we not exchange our calling and vision for temporary pleasures (bowl of soup).

First Born Sons accdg to Israel - double portion of blessing from parents.
“Esau despised his birthright” (Genesis 25:34). The author of Hebrews warned his readers, “See that no one is
sexually immoral, or is godless like Esau, who for a single meal sold his inheritance rights as the oldest son.
Afterward, as you know, when he wanted to inherit this blessing, he was rejected. Even though he sought the
blessing with tears, he could not change what he had done” (Hebrews 12:16–17). In taking his position as firstborn
lightly, Esau sinned against God and his family.

2. The Enemy’s Schemes

The enemy does not want us to be aware of him and what he is doing, he is working 24/7, he doesn’t sleep.

Satan slanders Adam and Eve - he destroyed human’s identity, he caused man to sin and rebel against God.
The Fall of man - carnal nature, sinful nature.
We are separated from God because of sin,

John 10: 10 “The enemy comes to steal, to kill, and destroy”

- The enemy is looking for loopholes in our lives that he will make it as his strongholds like our weaknesses.
(a specific sin or ungodly character). Let us allow the Lord to consecrate us circumcise our hearts of our fleshly
desires.
- We are living on a pervese generation (corrupted, distorted). He is lurking even within the Church at the
moment. (LGBT Church, Mixtures within (disco lights), Mega Churches becoming a Business firm, Prosperity
Gospel, etc.
The enemy wants us to focus on what people will say to us, comparing our lives to others. He wants us to let
the world be our standard instead of the Bible (Written word)
Example: Minor Attracted Persons vs Pedophiles

2 Timothy 3:1-4 (New International Version)

3 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money,
boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous,
without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than
lovers of God—

LGBTQIA+ - lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or questioning, intersex, asexual, and more.
* Accdg. To Christian Psychologists - Mental Disorder, the unwell
Example: A Filipino Drag queen making jokes about the “Our Father”

SENSITIVE! SENSITIVE!

Sound of Freedom - a movie about Tim Ballard, a former federal agent rescuing people (and children) from human
trafficking - child sex trafficking and sexual exploitation.
*Tim Ballard is a prominent figure in the fight against human trafficking and the founder of Operation Underground
Railroad (O.U.R.), a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing victims and bringing traffickers to justice. Tim
Ballard began his career as a special agent for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Human Trafficking
division.

TOTAL RESCUES - 6, 000 Rescued

Operations - America, Latin America
- his wife supported him
A. Resigned from his work for the sake of his call
B. Continue the Mission - He spoke to his wife about the call of God, his wife Mrs. Ballard encouraged him to listen
to God’s call (The importance of having a Christian partner), “Close your eyes and imagine Talking to your maker” 1.
Could you have saved the kids 2. Did you do it.

III. Redeemed Identity

A. Redemption thru Jesus Christ

We are bought with the precious blood of Christ, He paid it once and for all.
The Lord’s will for us is that we be restored and be conformed into the Likeness of Christ so we will be restored into
the original plan of God.
Christ was made a sacrifice to us - though we were sinners, from enemies to friends.

Romans 8: 8 - 11
8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more
then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. 10 For if when we were
enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be
saved by His life. 11 And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we
have now received the reconciliation.

B. TRANSFORMATION IS A PROCESS

1. Repentance
- The word repent means to think differently or to reverse a decision. Repentance is a process whereby God
changes the way we think about Him, ourselves, others, and circumstances of life.
- Robert A. Tucker
Isaiah 55 : 7-9 (New American Standard Bible)
7Let the wicked abandon his way, 8 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
And the unrighteous person his thoughts; Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord.
And let him return to the Lord, 9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
And He will have compassion on him, So are My ways higher than your ways
And to our God, And My thoughts than your thoughts.
For He will abundantly pardon.

When we receive the Lord Jesus Christ, we are not already perfect. We start as a baby Christian that needs
to mature. We need to continue to pursue maturity and righteousness.
Maturity in the Lord is not based on how long did you serve in the church, ministry, pastor and leaders, pastor’s kids
Only the Lord determines those who are qualified. Maybe, we will be shocked if we move to heaven. We will
witness those who will receive rewards and crowns (Church cleaners, pastors, evangelists, martyrs, etc). People
who were faithful with their calling.
As we go on in our Christian Lives, the Lord will reveal character problems, issues in our lives that needs to
be changed. The key to consistent change is to respond to God. HOW WE RESPOND TO GOD IS VERY
IMPORTANT!!!

“People tend to think repentance as being necessary only at the initial experience of receiving the Jesus Christ as
Lord and Savior. However, if Christians are to mature into the full purpose God has ordained for His people, it is
necessary to allow the Holy Spirit to lead them through a process of revelation and response to God that Scripture
calls repentance. This work of the Holy Spirit transforms God’s people into the image of Christ and nurtures a vital,
growing relationship with Christ” - Robert A. Tucker, Changed from Glory to Glory

2. Conformed to His Image

Salvation is free, but moving on to maturity requires a price to pay.
- Tsidonymous
Paul declared the purpose of God:
Romans 8: 29 (New American Standard Bible)
For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that
He would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters;“
“This transformation takes place as we allow God to bring us to repentance and a conversion comes into our
lives. When we receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior, the penalty of our sin is instantaneously erased. However God
concerns Himself with more than the penalty of sin. He also purposes that our sin nature be put to death,
transforming us into the nature and image of Jesus by a continual process.”
- Robert A. Tucker, Changed from Glory to Glory

2 Corinthians 3: 18 (New American Standard Bible)

But we all, with unveiled faces, looking as in a mirror at the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same
image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.

- May we allow and respond that the Lord will continue transform us from glory to glory and from victory to victory.
- May we define ourselves according to His word. (More than Conquerors, Sons and Daughters of the Living God,
We are on the winning side)
- May we allow the Lord to prepare us for His glory, for His great outpouring of Revival in this Last Days, as a
Modern John the Baptist. May we be a channel of blessing, agents of revival, missionaries on our own fields, let us
take our inheritance like Joshua. Soldiers of the Most High to fight against lawlessness, the flesh, the world and the
devil.
- He is raising a victorious youth group, may we be preserved and endure until His Coming.
Look to people as God sees them, may we have compassion on lost souls, let us work while it is day.
