“A RESOLUTION REQUESTING IVAN JOHN E. UY, SECRETARY OF


DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY
(DICT), THRU MARIA TERESA M. CAMBA, ASSISTANT SECRETARY FOR
REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT, FOR THE INCLUSION OF SIX (6) BARANGAYS
WITHIN THE MUNICIPALITY OF SAN VICENTE, PALAWAN UNDER THE FREE
WI-FI FOR ALL PROGRAM OF DICT"

WHEREAS, the Municipality of San Vicente recognizes the importance of digital


connectivity and the role it plays in empowering its residents, enhancing educational
opportunities, improving communication, and promoting economic growth;

WHEREAS, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT)


has been at the forefront of promoting digital connectivity and bridging the digital divide through
its Free Wi-Fi for All Program;

WHEREAS, the Municipality of San Vicente, with several isolated Barangays, faces
challenges in terms of connectivity due to its geographical location;

WHEREAS, the provision of free Wi-Fi access in remote areas such as the barangays
within the Municipality of San Vicente will contribute to the empowerment of its residents and
bridge the digital divide;

WHEREAS, the following barangays within the Municipality of San Vicente have been
identified as deserving of inclusion in the Free Wi-Fi for All Program:

Barangay Caruray
Barangay Port Barton
Barangay Kemdeng
Barangay San Isidro
Barangay New Canipo
Barangay Binga

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, as it is hereby resolved by the Sangguniang Bayan


of San Vicente, Palawan, to respectfully request Ivan John E. Uy, Secretary of Department of
Information and Communications Technology (DICT), thru Maria Teresa M. Camba, Assistant
Secretary for Regional Development, for the inclusion of the six (6) barangays within the
Municipality of San Vicente for the Free Wi-Fi for All Program of DICT.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Municipality of San Vicente commits to provide the
necessary support and cooperation to facilitate the successful implementation of the program,
including the identification of suitable locations for the establishment of Wi-Fi access points and
the provision of any assistance required for the smooth operation and maintenance of the
infrastructure.

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that copy of this resolution be furnished to the Office of the
Secretary, Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), and to Maria
Teresa M. Camba, Assistant Secretary for Regional Development, for their consideration and
appropriate action.

APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 20th of February 2024 in the Municipality of San Vicente,
Palawan.
