IMPORTANT!!
**YOU MUST ATTEND YOUR APPOINTMENT AT THE U.S. EMBASSY IN GUATEMALA CITY**
YOU MUST be prepared to show the following documents. Any missing documents may affect the
outcome of your interview.
1. Your valid passport.
2. Your most recent visa, if applicable.
3. A copy of this Appointment confirmation letter.
4. A printout of your DS-160 confirmation page, clearly printed and legible.
5. A professionally printed, color photograph, size 2x2",with awhite background and no
shadows, taken in the last six (6) months.Applicants should not wear glasses in the photo and both
ears should be visible. Please refer to Photo and Fingerprints Specifications for more information.
6. The receipt showingproof of payment foryour visa application.
7. If the visa application is for a minor under 18 years old, remember that you must bring the
minor's birth certificate on the day of the appointment, otherwise your case will be delayed.
Cargo Expreso will return your passport to the agency you selected.
IMPORTANT: If your appointment priority shows “IWP Biometrics”, please check if your
previous B1/B2 visa was issued before your 14th birthday. If so, you can continue with
your renewal process by attending the fingerprinting appointment at the Embassy, on the
date and time specified in your appointment confirmation letter (this document). If not, please
cancel your appointment and start a new appointment schedule in the correct priority.
Prior to entering security, please remove any belts, coats, sweaters, and any objects inside your
pockets. Please place these items in the tray provided by security on the conveyor belt for x-ray
screening.
The following items are prohibited inside the building:
Electrical devices such as cell phones, tablets, smartwatches, cameras or any recording
devices.
Headphones.
Any device that requires batteries with the exception of hearing aids.
Large purses, handbags or backpacks.
Food, excluding breast milk and prepared baby formula. The powdered formula will not be
allowed in.
Any type of liquids such as lotion, hand sanitizer (anti-bacterial gel), lipstick, water, more than
100ml (3.4 ozs)
Cigarettes, cigars, matches, or lighters.
Sharp objects such as scissors, pens, nail files, or razor blades.
Weapons or explosive materials of any kind.
There is no facility at the Embassy to store prohibited items. You must make arrangements to store
these items before entering. Due to security considerations, there is no information window for walk-in
visitors at the Embassy.
The Consular facilities – which include outdoor and indoor waiting areas, service windows, and
restrooms -- are completely accessible for those who use wheelchairs or other assistive devices.
However, the new facilities are spacious and may require applicants to stand for periods of time and
walk for moderate distances. Should your medical condition require a wheelchair or mobility assistance
device, please bring it with you to your appointment.
