Mosaic Law
The main impact the Mosaic Law gave to the
Canadian law was holding a punishment
reserved for the individual.
This means when a penalty is reserved for a
specific person, it signifies that it is given out to
that person alone for the wrongdoing they
committed, rather than a larger group of
individuals. It's comparable to when you do
something wrong and only you, not your friends
or family, are punished.
Roman Law
Roman Law
451-450 BCE.
Romans wrote and spread the Justinian Code. All of
Rome's laws were united under one roof and included
constitutional law. Western Europe's legal system is
founded on the Roman Law. Rome's legal system, or law,
was mostly composed of written laws and rules. Fairness,
universal applicability, and property rights protection
were given top priority. Roman law, which covered
subjects like criminal and civil law, had a big impact on
contemporary legal systems. Its influence on contract law
and property rights, which has had a long-lasting effect
on practices in many different countries, is one of its
contributions.

law, especially in Quebec, which
follows a civil law tradition, while the
rest of Canada follows common law.

The common law system, legal concepts,
institutions, and legal language, which have
influenced legal systems in many nations, notably
former British colonies, are the main legal
influences from the English. Germanic rules and
traditions took the role of Roman law in England
after the Anglo-Saxon invasion. A legal framework
known as "common law" was created by the
Norman Conquerors 1000 years later, under King
William I.

William Blackstone; first person to lecture
