roles of each participant to be first copy in your
presentation
• Case study in a real organization – yours or
another where you have direct access
• Topics will be assigned by group (topic 1 to
group 1, topic 2 to group 2 etc..)

• What is the organization’s overall strategy, what are the
strategic goals?
• How is the HR’s functional strategy cascaded from
overall strategy? What are the HR goals?
• How is HR structured, HO/branches etc.?
• Is it an appropriate structure, why/why not?
• What is working in HR – justify your opinion
• What is not working in HR – justify your opinion
• What HR Metrics is the organization using?
• What is lacking in Metrics?
• What are your recommendations?

• Topics 2: Talent Acquisition, Interviewing and Selection
• Start from the organization strategy and goals, what are they?
• Then follow with the organization structure and JDs, do they
exist in a form to support the talent acquisition process?
• Who does what in the TA process: line/HR/top management
• How efficient is the process, justify your opinion
• How are positions being sourced? Are sources working?
• Are they making use of all the possible channels?
• How is the interviewing done, ask current staff and actual
employees their opinion? Formulate your opinion based on this
information
• Methodology: situational/behavioral, other?
• How is the TA function evaluated in terms of metrics?
• What is working and what is not, support your opinion
• What are your recommendations

• Start from the organization’s strategy and goals, what are
they?
• How is this function responding to strategy and goals?
• What is the T&D process?
• How are training needs assessed?
• How does request the training happen or emerge?
• What are sources of training and how are vendors
selected?
• What are the current training programs they offer, regular
programs or ad-hoc, and how is training sourced?
• How is training evaluated, how many levels of evaluation?
• What is the impact – support your opinion
• What is working, what is not, support your opinion

• Start from the organization’s strategy and goals, what are they?
• How is this function responding to these?
• How is performance being managed?
• What is the process, who does what?
• Are there PM guides? Are managers trained?
• Are employees oriented to the process?
• Are there conflicts? How is conflict solved?
• Is there a formal mediation process?
• What metrics are they using to monitor this process, what
reports are issued?
• What is the impact – support your opinion
• What is working, what is not? Support your opinion.

GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR ALL
GROUPS

• Study first the organization and then the process you are
assigned
• Don’t lecture the class or repeat the study material, they
already know it. You are supposed to give the practical
example
• Prepare a 15-20 minute presentation
• Random selection so your group can be first or last
• Submit a hard copy of your presentation at the
beginning of the class (for face-to-face classes only)
• Submit one soft copy (pdf is ok) of your group
presentation by email ONE HOUR BEFORE the final class –
your group number should be in the subject of your mail.

GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR ALL
GROUPS
• Project is graded out of 40 – there is a grade portion on
individual effort,
• Every group member has to present – live (or on zoom if
online class)
• Timing is key – 5 minute Q&A session after your
presentation – any group member will be required to
answer any questions I ask.
• If you are presenting on zoom – (all class members’
cameras MUST BE ON for all presentations).
• NO ATTENDANCE NO GRADE - NO CAMERA NO GRADE
• Control your timing, by preparing and rehearsing
• All on one day – we stay till all groups finish, leaving early
entails grade deduction of at least 5 grades 8-7
