Math 5 Polygons

The lesson plan aims to teach students about polygons with 5 or more sides. The teacher will begin with an opening prayer and greetings. Students will then watch a video on different types of polygons. Through a class discussion, the teacher will define polygons and their characteristics such as the number of sides, vertices, and diagonals. Students will then identify polygons shown by the teacher and create an artwork using various polygons. For homework, students must find an object shaped like a polygon and identify its properties.

polygons that you see in the video?

Very Good!

During the Lesson

- Discussion (15 minutes)
A polygon is a plane-closed figure made of
a line segment.
A polygon is a closed two-dimensional
figure composed of straight-line
segments that meet at their endpoints.
 Vertex typically means a corner or
a point where lines meet. The plural
form of the vertex is vertices.
 A diagonal of a polygon is a line
segment whose endpoints are any
two nonconsecutive vertices of a
polygon. We name the diagonal
using the two endpoints.
Polygons and their
characteristics.
 Pentagon – 5 sides, 5 vertices,5
diagonals. The sum of the interior
angle is 540 degrees.
 Hexagon -6 sides, 6 vertices and 9
diagonals. The sum of the interior
angles is 720 degrees.
 Heptagon – 7 sides, 7 vertices, and
14 diagonals. the sum of the
interior angles is 900 degrees.
 Octagon – 8 sides, 8 vertices and
20 diagonals. The sum of the
interior angles is 1080 degrees.
 Nonagon -9 sies, 9 vertices, and 27
diagonals. The sum of the interior
angle is 1260 degrees.

 Decagon – 10 sides, 10 vertices and

35 diagonals. The sum of the
interior angles is 1440 degrees.
 Undecagon – 11 sides , 11, vertices,
and 44 diagonals. The sum of
interior angles is 1620 degrees.
 Dodecagon -12 sides,12 vertices,
and 54 diagonals. The sum of the
interior angles is 1800 degrees.
