Organizational structure[edit]
In 1987, under section 11 of Executive Order No. 125, the Regional Offices of the Land
Transportation Commission were abolished and their functions were transferred to the Regional
Offices for Land Transportation. The newly renamed Department of Transportation and
Communication was placed under the authority of the Secretary of Transportation and
Communication. As with the Land Transportation Commission before it, the Land Transportation
Office is an office under the Department of Transportation and is headed by the Assistant
Secretary for Land Transportation, who is appointed by the President upon the recommendation
of the Secretary.
