● Even as the finance ministry expects FY24 economic growth to exceed the central bank's

projection of 7%, it also expects growth in the following year, FY25, to be close to 7%, even

though geopolitical risks could lead to supply chain disruptions and a rise in inflation.

● Having reaped rich dividends from the Reserve Bank in the current financial year, the government

will be looking forward to receiving about Rs 70,000 crore from the central bank and the financial

institutions (FIs) in the next financial year.

● CSB Bank on January 29 reported a net profit of Rs 150 crore for the October-December quarter

of the financial year 2023-24, a 4 percent drop from Rs 155 crore clocked in the year-ago period.

● The Reserve Bank of India has allowed Life Insurance Corp. of India to acquire as much as 9.99

percent of HDFC Bank, the country's largest private lender, told stock exchanges on January 25.

● State-run Bank of Baroda on January 24 issued infrastructure bonds worth Rs 5,000 crore
maturing in 10 years, according to people familiar with the development.

● Ratings agency ICRA has revised upwards its projection of bank credit growth in FY24 to 14.9-

15.3 per cent, estimated at an incremental growth of ₹20.4-20.9 lakh crore, from the earlier

projection of 12.8-13 per cent equating to a growth of ₹17.5-17.8 lakh crore.

● Zomato Payments, a wholly owned subsidiary of Zomato Limited, has received the certificate of

authorisation from the Reserve Bank of India to operate as an online payment aggregator.

● Gurgaon-based Aye Finance, a non-banking financial company (NBFC), achieves a significant

milestone by disbursing loans totaling ₹10,000 crore to micro-enterprises.

● SBI Life Insurance, one of the most trusted private life insurers in the country, launched two

products– ‘SBI Life - Saral Swadhan Supreme’ and ‘SBI Life - Smart Swadhan Supreme’,.
● Max Life Insurance Company Limited., has launched Smart Wealth Annuity Guaranteed Pension

● Uncia Technologies has successfully launched its advanced Supply Chain Finance platform,

● In celebration of its silver jubilee year, Central Depository Services (India) Limited (CDSL), Asia's

first listed depository, announced the launch of two unique multi-lingual initiatives namely Multi-

accessibility in the capital market landscape.

● Kyndryl, the world’s largest IT infrastructure services provider, has engaged with Canara Bank,

one of the largest public sector banks in India, to optimize the bank’s business services and

operations, and modernize its IT infrastructure.

● The Finance Industry Development Council (FIDC), representing non-banking financial

companies (NBFCs), has introduced a comprehensive code of conduct for these entities.

● The Reserve Bank of India released a 'draft framework for recognising Self-Regulatory

Organisations (SRO) for FinTech Sector', stating the characteristics of a FinTech SRO, including
the required functions and governance standards.

 The Government has declared Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) as an 'Unlawful

Association' for a further period of five years under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act

(UAPA) 1967.

 Union Minister of Civil Aviation and Steel, Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia virtually inaugurated a

UDAN flight connecting Dehradun and Pithoragarh from New Delhi. Chief Minister of

Uttarakhand Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami also joined the event from Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand.

 Union Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 9 National
Highway projects costing Rs 2,367 crore and total length of 225 km in Jabalpur, Madhya

Pradesh.

 The second edition of India Energy Week (IEW) is scheduled to take place in Goa from the

 The Indian civil aviation regulator Directorate Genera l of Civil Aviation has imposed a penalty

 The Indian Navy stated that its offshore patrol vessel INS Sumitra rescued an Iranian-flagged

fishing vessel (FV) hijacked by armed pirates off the Somali coast, the second such action in

the last 24 hours in the Arabian Sea where the security situation has deteriorated significantly

due to the resurgence of piracy, and missile and drone attacks by Iran-backed Houthi rebels.

 The launch of ‘Ammunition Cum Torpedo Cum Missile Barge, LSAM 19 (Yard 129)’, 5th Barge

of 11 x ACTCM Barge Project, built by MSME Shipyard, M/s Suryadipta Projects Private
Limited, Thane, Maharashtra for Indian Navy, was undertaken at M/s Suryadipta Project Pvt

Ltd (Launch site of M/s SPPL).

 The Ministry of Defence (MoD) signed a contract with Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited

(MDL) to acquire 14 Fast Patrol Vessels (FPVs) for the Indian Coast Guard (ICG).

 The inaugural edition of Joint Military Exercise ‘SADA TANSEEQ’ between India and Saudi

Arabia will be held from January 29 to February 10 in Rajasthan, the Indian Army stated on

January 27.
 The Indian Army contingent comprising 25 personnel reached Egypt to take part in the India-

Egypt Joint Special Forces Exercise CYCLONE.

Ammonia, Green Methanol) of up to 1 million Ton capacity per annum, including Pumped Storage

Projects of 2 GW and development of renewable energy projects with or without storage up to 5

GW in the state.

 Telecom major Reliance Jio and Chinese smartphone company OnePlus have joined hands to

set up a 5G innovation lab in India.

 The Government of India has achieved another milestone in the water management sector,

particularly in the interlinking of rivers (ILR) program And this is a significant moment for the

people of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, as both states signed an MoU with the Ministry of Jal
Shakti (MoJS), Government of India (GoI) in New Delhi.
