Life, for me, is "a big game" with many "rounds" (I mean many life transitions), each of which
gives me another
challenge that I need to try my best to overcome and move on. The "game" leads me to experience the whole
gamuts of emotions: cheerfulness, anxiety, happiness, disappointment, excitement and discouragement. But, do you
know what is the apparent discrepancy between the game called "Life" and the game in its literal sense? The answer
is the former one has no "Gameover". In the game of life, there is always more than one way to go and all lead to
respective results. However, the point is whether the way you go can bring you worthy and desired results or just
regrets and disappointment. It all lies in your own decisions. You may be right, you may be wrong but bear in mind
that it is never too late to go back to the intersection of options and make a decision once again. In my favourite
Vietnamese song named " I'm still alive" by Tien Tien, there is a line that I really like: " Just make mistakes as life
allows you". As long as you dare to confront your failures, resume and persevere with what you are doing, the fruits
of unwavering efforts will come to you one day.
Unlike any computer game, in your game of life, what you have to defeat is not monsters, zombies but the old
version of yourself - the weak, undetermined and vulnerable one. Your targets in the game, also, are not kinds of
"booty" but a complete self and true happiness. I believe that the meaning of life lies in the way you define the word
"perfect" of your own. You discover yourself, break all your limits, confront prejudices against you to assert yourself.
And life gives us chances to do so - live to the fullest. When I was in grade 6, I studied in a class for the gifted.
However, I just considered myself a mediocre student compared with other classmates. English was my nightmare.
You would not imagine that how bad my acquaintance with this subject was at the time. All I knew were "Hi", "How
are you", "I'm fine, thank you. And you?", no grammar structures, no vocabulary. During English lessons, I could not
understand a single word the teacher said. What I could do was trying to hide myself from her vision so that she
could not notice me. At the time, I had intended to transfer class but eventually, I did not. I started taking extra
classes then when my English had improved a little, I made the craziest decision-taking part in a school team of gifted
students in English. Since then I had devoted myself 100 per cent to learning English. Three years later, I got a prize in
an English contest for the first time in my life, and now, I am an English teacher in the making. If I had not grabbed
the chance and challenged myself in the first place, I would not be who I am now. This experience made me realize
the meaning of life - finding your best self.
In my journey of defining myself, I suppose the most powerful weapon to beat all obstacles standing in my way is the
emotional supports from my beloved ones. There were times when I felt like the world was turning its back on me, I
kept running around in circles and I wanted to give up. Nevertheless, my family and close friends always believed in
me and accompanied me through all the hurdles. I feel so lucky to have them in my life, those who actually
understand me and give me an endless source of motivation.
I am not a superwoman so I cannot change the world overnight. I just hope my perspectives can positively affect the
frame of mind of people who can read this piece of writing. If we think life is just a game, why don't we take it easy?
Think simple and do what makes us happy because after all, what we are chasing is true happiness. Always do as best
we can and live our lives to the fullest. Life gives us a challenge? Take it and show the world that we can do it. Life is
a process of trial and error, so it is okay to make mistakes or fail. Remember the game of life is in your hand so do not
give up on it. However, life is not always about fighting. Sometimes, slow down, enjoy our lives to know how to
cherish precious small things around us. It will be more meaningful and satisfying if we spend time with the ones we
love, share with them happiness as well as burdens so that each of us can find a little bit of relief in this hectic life. If
possible, do not forget to spread your love to others, "water" their souls with faith to help the seeds of hope in them
sprout. You know what? I am also trying to do this by becoming a good teacher and bringing knowledge to my
students.
