Sizes: infant [toddler / child] Finished Hat Circumference: #$ [#% / &#] Materials: #'' [#$' / &''] yards of DK or worsted weight. Needles: US ##'.$ dpns for th( hat, US #% dpns for the I-cord. Gauge: * sts / # in in st st with larger needles.

Top:
With larger needles, cast on 6 stitches on 3 dpns (2 on each needles), Round 1: knit around. Place a marker to mark the beginning of the round. Round 2: make 1 stitch in each stitch (12 sts, 4 on each needle). Round 3: knit around. Round 4: *k1, yo; repeat from * [24 sts, 8 on each needle]. Round 5: knit around Round 6: *k in front and back of next st (increase), k1; repeat from *, ending with increase 1m. [36 sts, 12 on each needle] Round 7: knit around. Round 8: k2tog around [18 sts, 6 on each needle] Round 9: *p1, insert needle under next horizontal loop below (between sts) and purl this st.Repeat from *, around [36 sts, 12 on each needle] Round 10: knit around.

Repeat round 7, round 8 [42 sts, 24 on each needle], round 9 [84 sts, 28 on each needle] and round 10.

Body:
Continue in st st until the hat is 4.5 [6.25 / 8.25] inches from the crown. Next round: *k1, yo; repeat from *. Next round: knit around.

Brim:
Knit three rounds. Next round: Next round: *k1, yo; repeat from *. Knit three rounds. Bind o, dont cut yarn. Turn up hem and sew in place for picot edge. With smaller needle make a 3 stitches I-cord. Pass it through the eyelet and tie in a bow.
