Nineteen Al Qaeda terrorists hijacked four commercial airplanes, crashing two into the World Trade Center towers in New York City, one into the Pentagon near Washington D.C., and the fourth into a field in Pennsylvania. Nearly 3,000 people were killed and over $10 billion in infrastructure and property damage was caused. ISLAM: 9/11 ATTACK

The September 11 attacks or commonly known as 9/11 is an Islamists suicide terrorist attack
committed by Al Qaeda against the United States that happened on year 2001. The extensive death and
destruction caused by the Islamic extremist group is led by Osama bin Laden who is also the mastermind
behind the attack, while Khalid Sheik Mohammed was the operational planner. The reason why al-
Qaeda's attacked the U.S. is because of the Western support and other countries helping to attack the
Muslims; Israeli persecution of Palestinians during the Al-Aqsa Intifada. The attacks were located at
World Trade Center, New York, The Pentagon, Ground Zero, Manhattan, Shanksville, Arlington County,
and Stonycreek Township by aircraft hijacking, Islamic terrorism, and mass murder. The terrorist attack
severely impacted the United States, leaving a permanent mark on its economy and the citizens of the
country.

The 9/11 terrorist attacks on America had a profound negative impact on the economy that quickly
spread to the world's financial markets. According to Davis (2023), the companies that suffered the most
immediately were insurance and airlines, and in the days that followed, U.S. stock markets first dropped
by more than 10%. The airline industry suffered significant losses after the 9/11 attacks, with a 31.6%
decrease in travel and grounding of commercial flights for three days, leading to massive industry losses
based on DE Clark et al (2009). Economically speaking, the 9/11 attacks had a major impact. The terrorist
attacks made the already dire position for businesses worse.

Almost 3,000 lives were lost in the attacks, while many more were affected worldwide. Declaring a
"War on Terror," US President George W. Bush said on September 20 that the fight against terrorism
was now the global community's responsibility. There had been other terrorist assaults in the US, but
none of the same scale or significance. The world was shook by 9/11, and it influenced the next
generation based on Imperial War Museum (2023). Moreover, according to the World Trade Center
Health Program, over 71,000 individuals have been diagnosed with physical and mental health
conditions brought on by exposure to the dust, smoke, debris and trauma of the 9/11 attacks. Not only
did the attacks claim lives, but they also caused illnesses that plagued the victims.

Admittedly, even before 9/11 attack, the US economy was in a slump. The Dotcom Bubble was an
economic bubble that impacted technology-related stock prices in the US in the late 1990s and early
2000s based on WallStreetMojo. But, according to Baird (2023), the attack was so shocking that it sent
the US economy into an even deeper depression. Since the US economy is heavily dependent on
consumer spending, a shock like that might cause consumers to retreat. Because of 9/11 against the
backdrop of an already deflating economy, the market fell 17–18% a year later.

It may be true that despite of the extreme tragedy of the 9/11 attacks, it served as a lesson in the
tenacity, compassion, and togetherness of people in the US and around the globe. According to Sharma
(2021), following the 9/11 attacks, the US administration announced the "Global War on Terror"
(GWOT), officially known as "Operation Enduring Freedom" (OEF), on October 7, 2001. But, based on
Shor (2019), it says that it is generally accepted that the implementation of new antiterrorist legislation
following the 9/11 terrorist attacks always has a negative effect on people's civil freedoms and human
rights. According to Jackson (2023), The fight against terrorism was a multifaceted, practically infinitely
long battle. Its military dimension included major war in Afghanistan and Iraq, covert operations in
Yemen and other locations, extensive military support initiatives for cooperative regimes, and significant
rises in military spending which led to major loss of military and civilian lives.

9/11 attack was the bloodiest terrorist act that occured on American territory that took thousand
lives of innocent people and caused a negative impact on the economy that makes the position of the
businesses worst. Naturally, this attack's correspondingly monumental effect on influencing the world by
how a country should increase security measures, enhancing intelligence sharing, encouraging
international cooperation, fostering understanding and their families must all be given top priority in the
wake of September 11 attacks. The attackers had a valid reason why they dared to invade but their way
to let the US know what's their intention was unacceptable because their actions have led to negative
events and affects the lives of people in US. "The killing of innocent people is wrong" said by Bianca
Jagger and I agree with that simply because killing is a violation of natural and human law.
