1.Past continuous
a. Use:
Thì quá khứ tiếp diễn được dùng để:
- chỉ một hành động đang xảy ra ở một thời điểm trong quá khứ
Ex: They were watching TV at 7p.m last night.
- Chỉ 1 hành động đang xảy ra trong quá khứ thì 1 hành động khác đan xen vào làm gián đoạn
Ex: I was listening to music when she came.
- Chỉ hai hay nhiều hành động xảy ra đồng thời trong quá khứ.
Ex: I was watching TV while my mother was cooking.
- Chỉ 1 việc hoặc 1 hành động ttiếp diễn trong quá khứ vào thời gian không xác định
Ex: They were doing exercises

Once upon a time, in the 6th Hung Vuong dynasty, the King wanted to give the crown to one of
his soons. He decided that he organise a competition, and he would give the crown to whoever
could find the most delicious and specilal food.
  Each prince searched for an amazing food with the hope that they would become King. Tiet
Lieu, the 18 prince , was a very kind person. One day, he dream that a god told him to make
some special food to symbolise the earth , the sky, and the parents. Tiet Lieu woke up and
made Banh Chung and Banh Day . Banh Chung was square and symbolised the sky. Banh Day
symbolized the parents., too.
  The King had seen and tasted all of special food, but he thought Banh Chung and Banh Day
were the most delicious. He asked Tiet Lieu about the meanings of them , and then decided to
give the crown to Tiet Lieu. From that day on, Vietnames people make Banh Chung and Banh
Day on the Tet holiday and on some other occations.
