INTRODUCTION

Fitness is a healthy lifestyle that includes regular exercising, a healthy diet,

and other participation in physical activities such as sports. Lack of exercise or a
sedentary lifestyle, is a well-established contributor to premature death. Research
released by The Lancet (2012), found that being sedentary and inactive causes
more deaths globally than either diabetes or cigarette smoking. In addition,
researchers discovered that the least fit individuals, as assessed by a treadmill test,
had a 500% higher chance of passing away before their time. Lack of physical
activity has a serious global health impact and diminishing or alleviating this
dangerous behavior can significantly improve health.
If the person is not athletic and does not play any sport, working out and
exercising are the best things to do instead. Thus, going to a fitness gym center to
stay healthy and fit should be the answer to the health problems caused by a
sedentary lifestyle. A fitness gym center serves as a full-service wellness hub that
provides a variety of workout equipment, professional coaching, and a community-
focused setting that promotes social interaction, mental wellness, and physical
health in its members.
According to the Korea Health Statistics of 2018, 8.3 hours are spent
sedentary time by adults in Korea who are 19 years of age or older. Of the adult
population, only 8.9% spent less than four sedentary hours, while 20.6% spent more
than twelve sedentary hours. In support, an estimated 3.2 million people worldwide
under the age of 15 die each year as a result of inadequate physical exercise, which
accounts for around 31% of the world's population. These statistics on a global scale
is a proof of workout places such as gyms to combat against sedentary lifestyle.
In addition, in the Philippines, according to the most recent Sun Life Financial
Asia Health Index, the Philippines has one of the highest percentages of people who
do not exercise frequently. These people mostly excuse their lack of time, lack of
personal desire, and the "distractions" of contemporary living. A convenient, fast, and
affordable fitness hub is suitable to accommodate some of the causes if Filipino
sedentary lifestyle.
Moreover, in Davao City, according to Padillo (2023) in a City Health Office
(CHO) official, COVID19 incidence in Davao City has reduced, while cases of

3
lifestyle illnesses have increased. Heart attack, obesity, Type 2 diabetes, stroke,
hypertension, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), and asthma are all
examples of lifestyle illnesses. By preventing lifestyle diseases, fitness-based
practices greatly lower the risk of disorders like diabetes and heart disease by
promoting nutritious eating, regular exercise, stress reduction, and enough sleep.
In conclusion, the significance of a balanced fitness strategy that includes
regular exercise, stress reduction, enough sleep, and healthy lifestyle choices cannot
be overstated, as it significantly lowers the risk of diseases like diabetes and heart
disease. A healthy, fit person is less likely to develop long-term illnesses, and when
under pressure, a healthy mind responds more effectively. One's level of self-
confidence rises, and the body's enhanced immunity allows it to combat malignant
cells. Lastly, regular exercise reduces the severity of health problems – emphasizing
the importance of fitness gyms.
