STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
An important and significant area of study is the investigation of how gender stereotypes affect
the career selections made by former HUMSS (Humanities and Social Sciences) students.
Gender stereotyping are broad categories that reflect our impression and beliefs about females
and males. All stereotypes (whether gender, ethnicity, or other groupings based) refer to the
image of a typical member of a particular social category. Gender stereotyping is divided into
four dimensions that are in form of traits, physical characterization, behaviour and occupations.
Gender norms and discrimination in our society might possibly limit people's possibilities and
choices by shaping their ideas of appropriate job pathways. When it comes to HUMSS students,
who have a diverse range of career options available to them, it is crucial to examine how
gender norms and stereotypes shape their decision-making process. Stereotypes based on
gender can have a significant impact on our self-perception and our perspective of what kinds of
careers are available. Through a wide variety of professional opportunities at their disposal, this
study attempts to explore how these stereotypes affect the choices made by former HUMSS
students regarding their careers. This research aims to empower people to pursue occupations
based on their interests, passions, and abilities by investigating the impact of gender norms on
career choices. It also hopes to provide insight on the underlying issues that contribute to
gender discrepancies in particular fields. In the end, our research seeks to advance gender
equality, challenge societal expectations, and create more inclusive and equitable career
opportunities for all individuals.

Study on the relationship between gender norms and career decision-making examines the
impact of gender stereotypes on the job choices of former HUMSS students. Because HUMSS
education is interdisciplinary, students have a wide variety of employment opportunities that
available today. Understanding the influence of these stereotypes helps us recognize the
barriers and limitations of former HUMSS students in choosing their career. By analyzing the
influence of gender stereotypes, we gain insights into how these perceptions affect career
choices and can work towards creating more inclusive and diverse career opportunities. The
purpose of this study is to examine the variables that influence the job decisions of former
HUMSS students and to comprehend the ways in which gender stereotypes and societal
expectations impact their choices. Through contextualizing this subject, the study hopes to
advance knowledge of the intricate relationship between gender norms and professional
decisions, ultimately opening doors for future career chances that are more inclusive and
equitable for all people.
The importance of the topic to the respondents today is to help them to make fairer decisions
about jobs and promote equality. By recognizing and challenging stereotypes, we can create
better opportunities for everyone, no matter their gender. Educators can give better advice,
workplaces can become more diverse, and individuals can feel more empowered to choose the
careers they want. Overall, it's about making sure everyone has a fair chance to follow their
dreams, regardless of what society expects based on gender. It is essential to comprehend how
gender stereotypes influence job decisions in a society where gender equality and
empowerment are becoming more and more valued. The need to combat biases and traditional
assumptions about gender that restrict people's employment options is the focus of this
research issue. This study attempts to provide light on the obstacles and prejudices that former
HUMSS students may have faced by looking into their experiences. By doing so, it hopes to
provide insights that can guide interventions and efforts that support inclusivity and equitable
chances in career choices. The results of this study may enable people to choose jobs that align
with their interests and skills, regardless of gender, so promoting diversity and equity in the
workforce.
Gender Differences and Career Choice. The Role of Personality, Interest, Ability, and Motivation
in Choosing to Pursue a Career. This paper addresses important differences between men and
women to consider when discussing gender equality in the workplace. It explores the role of
personality traits, interests, abilities, and motivations in shaping individuals' decisions to pursue
a particular career. The authors highlight the impact of gender stereotypes on career choices
and the need to integrate these disparities to promote gender equality. The research findings
suggest that gender differences in career choice are influenced by a combination of biological
factors, such as prenatal androgen exposure, as well as socialization processes. The paper
emphasizes the importance of recognizing and addressing these gender differences to create
more inclusive and equitable work environments. In addition to the research paper by Sassine,
J., & Hajj, J. (2022). other related studies have explored the influence of gender on career
choice and progression. For example, a meta-analysis conducted by researchers examined the
role of race/ethnicity and gender in career choice, aspirations, and decision-making. The study
highlighted the significance of understanding the perceptions of opportunities and barriers in
career choices among different gender.

Even with progress made in the area of gender equality, these biases still prevent women from
taking advantage of chances and developing professionally. Gender stereotypes mostly affect
women's when it comes to their career choice. It continue to negatively affect the career
progression of women. According to a study published in the Sage Journals (2021), Gender
stereotypes that influence management conduct and vocational outlooks limit the options
available for women to advance in their careers. The study further reveals that only 29 percent
of women hold senior management positions worldwide, indicating the extent of the problem.
When Analyzing how gender stereotypes influence the career decisions of former HUMSS
students through, a significant challenge that may arise is the potential bias in the respondent
base. It's essential to recognize that the sample of former HUMSS students may not represent
the entire population, as it might consist only of individuals who have already chosen careers or
hold particular views on gender stereotypes. This limitation could restrict the applicability of the
results and may not fully capture the viewpoints and experiences of all former HUMSS students.
It is vital to acknowledge this constraint and interpret the outcomes in light of the particular
sample under study. For instance men may be encouraged to pursue occupations requiring
physical strength or assertiveness, while women may unintentionally be guided toward caring or
nurturing professions. These misconceptions have the ability to restrict people's potential,
keeping them from pursuing professions in which they may thrive or find fulfillment. To make
sure that professional decisions are driven by a person's unique interests, abilities, and
passions rather than by prejudices and expectations from society, it is critical to recognize and
combat these gender stereotypes.
The aim of the study is to investigate the career choices of former HUMSS students and
examine the influence of gender stereotypes on their decision-making. The goal of the study is
to comprehend the particular career choice that these collenge students took after completing
their HUMSS levels. Furthermore, it seeks to determine which specific gender stereotypes
impact the career decisions of former HUMSS students as well they perceive gender
stereotypes in career choices. The study also aims to examine how gender stereotypes impact
the career choices of former HUMSS students and analyze the societal factors that contribute to
the reinforcement of these stereotypes in career decision-making.
Another potential idea for the study could be to explore the long-term effects of gender
stereotypes on the career trajectories of former HUMSS students. The goal of the study might
refer to understand how gender stereotypes affect career advancement, job satisfaction, and
general professional success in addition to their influence on early career choices. Through an
analysis of the experiences and professional outcomes of former HUMSS students, this
research can offer important insights into the obstacles and difficulties that people encounter as
a result of gender stereotypes. This knowledge can support the development of interventions
and policies that support gender equality and foster an inclusive and encouraging work
environment for all employees.

The potential positive result of analyzing the influence of gender stereotypes in career choices
of former HUMSS students could be the identification of previously unnoticed biases or societal
expectations that may limit individuals career options. The study may enable students to pursue
careers based on their interests and skills rather than following traditional gender norms.
Additionally, raising awareness about these stereotypes might encourage educational
institutions and policymakers to implement strategies aimed at promoting gender equality and
encouraging students to explore a broader range of career paths. They have the option to
pursue professions that are usually not represented in their gender, which promotes diversity
and balance in careers. Former HUMSS students set an example for future generations when
they pursue professions in which their gender is typically underrepresented. Their
accomplishments and success inspire others who would have been discouraged from pursuing
particular vocations because of social expectations. Seeing someone who breaks through
gender stereotypes and excels in their chosen industry can inspire and encourage others to
pursue a career in their footsteps.
