Highlights Of Jammu Kashmir Reorganization Act 2019
1. This Act bifurcated J&K state into two union territories. a) UT of Jammu &
Kashmir b) UT of Ladakh.
2. This act was introduced and passed in Rajya Sabha on 5 August 2019.
3. It was later passed by Lok Sabha on 6th August 2019.
4. It received President’s Assent on 9th August 2019.
5. It was executed/Implemented/Enacted on 31st October 2019.
6. It contains 103 sections divided into 14 parts and five schedules.

Part 1 of JK Reorganisation Act 2019
• Part-I of this Act deals with definitions of titles or terminologies
mentioned in the Act and is titled Preliminary.
Part 2 of JK Reorganisation Act 2019
• Under Section 3 of Part-II UT of Ladakh is formed which comprises of
Kargil and Leh districts.
• Under Section 4 of Part-II, UT of Jammu & Kashmir is formed which
comprises of districts of erstwhile state except Kargil and Leh.

• Under Section 9(1) – four seats are allocated to the UT of Jammu and

• Under Section 13 – The provisions contained in Article 239(A) are
