Installation Instruction 3

The document provides installation instructions for rubber compensators. It states that bolts should be inserted with a minimum 15mm clearance to avoid damaging the bellows. Nuts should be tightened diagonally to avoid tool damage. Bolts should not be overtightened to prevent crushing the bulge and ensuring proper sealing. The expansion joint should be installed so it can be observed and loaded as far as possible for maximum compression. The distance from fixed points should not be greater than 3 times the inside diameter and only one expansion joint between two fixed points.

Installations

Instructions
Rubber Compensator

Assembly Instructions

1. Threaded bolts can be inserted from either side. The end of the thread
should not come into contact with the expansion joint bellows.
The thread length should be selected to provide a minimum clearance
under load of 15 mm between bolt and rubber bulge, otherwise there
is a risk of damage.

2. Tighten nuts working diagonally across, fixing the spanner inside and
tightening outside so as to avoid tool damage to the rubber cover.

3. Do not overthighten the bolts (see recommended bolt torques below)

as this will crush the bulge and prevent correct sealing ( work to the
recommended bolt torques below).

4. Care should be taken to ensure that pipe flange inside diameter

matches the nominal bore (expansion joint A - inside diameter),
otherwise please query.

Installations Instruction

1. Install the rubber expansion joint so that it can be observed.

2. Load the rubber expansion joint as far as possible to max. compression.

Greater extension under working conditions requires prestressing
(installation length less than overall length.) Torsion is not permible.

3. Distance from fixed points or pipe guides not greater than 3 x A, only 1
expansion joint between 2 fixed points.

4. If there are insufficient fixed points, use expansion joint version with
length limiter for absorbing reaction force. Length limiters are always
set to overall length.

5. Do not paint expansion joints.

6. Ensure that the maximum permissible temperature is not exceeded

making due allowance for external radiant heat.
