Introduction

Alice: Which way should I go?

Cat: That depends on where you are going.
Alice: I don’t know.
Cat: Then it doesn’t matter which way you go.”
Alice in Wonderland

Every single one of us wants to live a happy and fulfilling life. A life full of
meaning, joy, triumphs, family and friends around us. We feel happy when what
we do matters, when we develop deep connections with the people around us.

This framework aims to help us better understand ourselves. Pause for a

moment. Try to answer a few simple questions: “How do I want to live my life?
Who do I want to be? Where do I want to go?”.

These simple questions are difficult to answer and may even be overwhelming.
But there is a solution: simplifying things and breaking them down, so they are
measurable and actionable. And that’s what I did in order to help myself 5 years
ago.

Many people run away from conscious decisions about their lives, and go with
the flow. But if you are reading this – I have good news for you – you are not one
of them. If you decide what you want, why you want it, and take action
towards achieving those goals – congratulations, you are far ahead of the
majority of people on this planet.

I love the idea that we can design our lives. If you are not in a driver’s seat,
you are being driven and have little control. While it is impossible to control
everything and the world is complex, we still can be very intentional with our
time, efforts and perceptions.

Imagine that your life is an exploration mission on a spaceship, then this

framework is a captain’s cockpit. This is where you make key decisions on all
the details and directions of your mission, its goals and outcomes.

Why I am doing this
I have had a passion for life since I was a little kid. I always want to be better,
smarter, stronger... Realizing my full human potential became one of my life’s
goals. One of the biggest fears for me would be to live a mediocre life and
then, when I’m old, see a person that I could have become. Jeff Bezos’s regret
minimization framework also resonates deeply with me. The idea is to project
yourself into the future and look back on your decisions from that perspective.
In short, we live once, so we must take action and try to live the life we want.

I’ve been exposed to the idea of productivity and goal setting early on in my
life. My brother and friends started a tech startup called Readdle back in 2007.
I joined them very early on, while only being a student. So I had to manage
both, studying for my masters degree for straight A’s and helping our startup
to grow. Time was of the essence and managing it was really hard, especially
that I am wired to get the best results at everything I do. We focused on
creating productivity apps, and 13 years later, our business grew into a 200
team members company, and over 150 million people downloaded our apps
worldwide.

For the past 5 years I’ve been conducting research on goal setting, productivity,
efficiency, energy, time management and happiness. I’ve studied multiple
approaches, read various books and I tried to assemble all this knowledge and
best practices of other smart people into one coherent framework. It tries to
decompose life into smaller parts that are actionable and measurable. It adds
much needed structure and meaningful guidance that I couldn’t find anywhere else.

I believe that everyone is capable of achieving their goals. For that, we have to
organize our thoughts, actions and energy into a coherent and efficient system.
This is called strategy. Various methodologies, tools and apps should help us on
this journey, and this framework is one of them.

Last year over 100,000 people used this framework and we’ve received
phenomenal feedback. This year, we are taking it to the next level.
Entrepreneurs, CEOs, coaches, psychologists, and existing users of this
framework helped us improve it.
My passion for personal growth is transforming into something bigger than

5
I could’ve imagined. I started this as a way to help myself to live a better life,
and I’m humbled and honored that I might be helping others. This is bigger than
myself. It defines who I am, and what I want to do in life. My mission is to live a
fulfilled life and help others.

If all the above resonates with you – join us on this journey.

How to use this Framework

Why do we call this a framework? A framework is a particular set of rules, ideas,

or beliefs which you use in order to deal with problems or to decide what to do.
We aimed to make this framework simple, effective and actionable.

In order to get the most out of it, you must put yourself in a peak state and
uplifted condition when you are motivated and driven. Only then you would
want to take action and change your behaviours and patterns.

Here’s how to get started:

1. Have a clear “why” you are doing this
2. Commit to this, as it might change your life for the better
3. Find time when nobody will interrupt you
4. Let go of all expectations, be open minded, honest and brave
5. Turn on ambient music to get into a focused mode
6. Once you fill it out – open and review often
7. Create a visual board for your wishes and desires

Filling out this worksheet requires time and effort. But hey, we are
defining our lives here! So I think this is one of the best investments that you
could possibly make.

It’s “okay” if you won’t be able to fill it out in one day (it usually takes two weeks
for me).

1. Review your goals monthly.

It’s important to review and update the framework and goals every month.
Personally, I’ve set a reminder in my calendar (using Readdle Calendars, of
course, for recurring events) to review my goals every month on the 1st of
February, March, April, etc.

This year, I will follow up via email reminders in order to check in with you
on your reflection process.

7
2. Share your goals with friends.
This simple step will play a major “Jedi-mind trick” on your brain. Once we
share our goals with friends or the ones we love, it will be much harder to
not deliver the promised results, because we know that people expect them
from us. Also, those who believe in us will be happy to support our goals
and desires by helping, guiding or introducing to the right people.

3. Reward yourself.
Don’t forget to treat yourself. You are making an effort to grow and evolve.
So take a step back, reflect, write down the things you are grateful for, and
wake up with a smile. Buy yourself a cookie, go on vacation, celebrate wins
with friends.

I hope you will find this framework useful. It would be great to hear your
feedback, ideas, and thoughts. But most importantly, do what matters and
live a happy life. We will do our best to support you.

4. Start Small.
Ambitious and big goals might scare us away. That’s why I’ve incorporated
the First Steps section for each life area, where we can write down all the
little steps to help us get started.

5. Do one step at a time.

Embed new habits into your routines one after another. Doing everything at
once will be very hard. Set reminders, make calendar events, ask your loved
ones or friends to support you.

6. Create a good strategy.

To increase the chances of us achieving our goals we must have a good
strategy, which includes diagnosis, guiding policy and coherent action.

7. Take massive action towards your goals.

Each goal must become an actionable project. In other words, all these
goals must become actionable items in your calendar.

8
Guiding Principles

1. Goals are flexible.

Your annual goals can be altered anytime if you feel like something has
changed or you have new priorities. It’s totally fine.

2. Be honest with yourself.

Often we think we want or we need something, but in reality, we don’t.
It’s society or the people around us who shape our choices or expect
something out of us. I believe it’s crucial to be honest with yourself and
figure out, “What do I really want?”

3. In a moment of doubt, open the framework.

Many of us face hard times, depression and uncertainty. It’s always helpful
for me to get back to level zero and look at my principles and values, all the
ambitious plans and goals I’ve laid out. They give positive energy and guide
you forward.

4. A system beats the hustle.

Having routines and an organized system with processes yields the best
results. Build systems and habits that empower you.

5. Be clear what you want.

Clarity is crucial. Be clear of what you want, why you want it and make a
plan to achieve it. This framework is designed to help you with that.

6. Assemble a team that will help you.

It takes more than one person to build something outstanding. Assemble
your “team” of people who truly support you and can help you. Friends
who push you forward, mentors and coaches who give perspective,
A-level colleagues and others will create an environment where you can
flourish.

9
7. Improve your skills and knowledge.
Learn quickly every day. Be hungry for knowledge. Ask people who have
done it. Polish your skills and ideally we must find one thing to become the
best in the world at it.

8. Face what’s not working.

Insanity is when we do the same thing over and over again and expect
different results. We must be aware enough to look at facts and change our
approach if something is not working.

9. Know what it takes.

Try to understand what it would take to get where you want and if you are
ready to pay this price. That’s why imagining the final result is not enough,
we must look at the journey there and see if we are willing to do what it
takes.

10. Minimize regrets.

Big dreams take the same amount of energy as small dreams. Take actions
and try different things so in the future you won’t be regretting not even
trying and not following your dreams.

11. Have fun and enjoy the journey.

In the end it is indeed about the journey, relationship, love and joy from
everyday activities. So don’t take life too seriously and enjoy the journey.

Life is a miracle itself so let’s be grateful

and make great things happen.

CHAPTER 1

Reflections
Let's look back at our actions
and thoughts to learn from them.
This is a crucial exercise for awareness
and growth.
Why reflect?
Reflection helps us to learn from the past experiences, better understand
our patterns and behaviours in order to adjust them for the future. It is one
of the key elements of personal growth. Awareness and reflection are highly
interconnected.

From the Harvard Business Review: “Reflection gives the brain an opportunity to
pause amidst the chaos, untangle and sort through observations and experiences,
consider multiple possible interpretations, and create meaning. This meaning
becomes learning, which can then inform future mindsets and actions.”

In other words, reflection helps us to understand where we are and find better
ways to go where we want to be.

One very important point: while reflecting and analysing the past, we must not
only think about our actions and what happened, but more importantly, we must
look into why did we make those decisions back then? Why did I think that this
was a good idea (until it wasn’t)? We must dig deeper and understand the belief
system and decision making patterns in order to truly change our behaviours.

Ideally, we want to make reflection a daily habit. It will yield enormous results in
a very short time if done right.

Here are some recommendations on how to set up the reflection process:

1. Set a specific time every day

2. Review your day, actions and thoughts and think about what happened
and what could have been done better
3. Make it a habit
4. Act on the reflections – this means that you want to implement changes
to your thoughts and actions.

With that said, let’s reflect on the past 12 months of our lives. We have compiled
great questions that will make you relive all the happy moments, make lessons
from the failures, identify the people who fan your flames and much more.
This is one of my favorite parts of the framework.

Summarize your current state using
“Wheel of Life”

A “Wheel of Life” is a widely used tool that tries to decompose our life into
various areas. Of course, it is a simplification, but it provides a very important
function – it makes things measurable and actionable. So it is easier to focus on
each area to achieve great results.

1. Body – health, looks, sport and training, diet, sleep.

2. Mind and Energy – life energy, state of mind, curiosity, mindfulness,

self-awareness, resilience, positivity.

3. Field of activity – work, business and education.

4. Finance – financial situation. Income, savings, debt, investments,

taxes.

5. Personal development – skills and talents, knowledge, growth.

6. Relationships – family, your love partner, kids.

7. People around me – friends, colleagues and acquaintances.

8. Happiness and Joy – feeling good, certainty in the future, optimism,

results and achievements, hobbies, random acts of kindness, helping
others.

How to work with this?

Rate how happy you are with the situation in each life area.
This will help you better understand where you are and what to prioritize.

1-4: Not happy. I must change it and I’m ready to commit.

5-8: Kind of OK. I’m ready to improve things here but I need clarity and
certainty.
9-10: I’m happy about this life area. Should I set more ambitious goals?

If something is below 5 we advise to prioritize it and take action towards

changing that.

CHAPTER 2

Vision and Clarity

Once we have clarity about who we are and what life
we want to live – achieving that will be so much easier
and more realistic. Here we will go into a self discovery
journey and answer some of the most important
questions in our lives.
Purpose

The reason you exist beyond making money. Some people love having purpose
in life as it guides them. Some believe that life has no purpose and no meaning.
If you are comfortable with creating a purpose for yourself – let’s do what’s
called “Life purpose exercise”.

1. List your two unique personal qualities or skills

2. What comes easily to you?
3. What do you love doing? What brings you joy?
4. What would you do if you had all the money and time in the world?
5. What words friends use that describe you?
6. Do you see patterns? Can you make a career doing what you love to be
doing?

I also like the Japanese concept of “Ikigai” which is known as “Reason for
being”.

My purpose is

29
Vision, mission, principles
and values.

These have to be aspirational. We all can aspire to have values and principles
that we like, and that we can cultivate ourselves. Once you write these things
down, it’s important to make a reality check and see whether your behaviour
stands up to proclaimed values and principles. This is the first step of awareness
and change.

Vision

Vision – the state of the world that you hope to see when your work is done
(SpaceX — occupy Mars, or it could be raising amazing kids, or anything that
you want it to be)

What’s your vision?

30
Mission

Mission – what you do every single day to achieve that vision (Tesla’s mission is
to accelerate the world’s change to sustainable energy. My personal mission is
to live a fulfilled life and help others do the same)

What’s your mission?

Principles

Principles work like a compass that helps you evaluate any opportunity or
situation. They can ultimately drive your values and goals. For example, your
principles can include fairness, integrity, and honesty.

What are your principles?

31
Values and Virtues

Beliefs and opinions you hold regarding specific issues or ideas. Values are
internal and subjective. Unlike principles, values may change over time. If a
given belief or opinion is something that might be altered if the conditions are
right, then it’s a value. We all must aim for virtues, since virtue is something that
we do.

What are your values?

32
CHAPTER 3

12 Month Plan
Here we will set goals for each life area,
and come up with a plan on how to achieve them.
What we do here will define how we live
and what we do for the next year.
Let’s give a name to the next year, so you can
keep that as your North Star.

(name your year)

I want my next 12 months to be:

1.

2.

3.

4.

5.

35
Areas of Life Planning
Using the “Wheel of Life” we are going to set up vision, goals and create
actionable steps to achieve our goals. Ideally, goals should become projects in
our calendars. I will provide some examples how these could be filled out.

1. Body:

Health, looks, sport and training, diet, and sleep.

Vision
Write in the past tense, your vision of the best possible results in 12 months
from now as if this has already happened.

I am healthy and I did medical check ups every 6 months.

I am super fit, gained 3 kg muscle mass, low body fat and super energetic.
Example

I did competitive sports twice a week, ran 10k easily.

I ate healthy food and vitamins to boost my energy and life expectancy.
I slept 7–8 hours a day and woke up at 6 am every day.

Why do I want this?

Why does my vision matter to me? What will I get and how will I feel when I’m there?
Example

Good physical shape will allow me to crush all my other goals, be more attractive,
and have more energy.

36
Goals
Set goals that will help you achieve your visions and desired outcome. You can
use the SMART system to increase your chances of hitting the goals.
S – specific, M – measurable, A – achievable, R – relevant, T – time-bound

1. Swim 1k by the end of May.

Example

2. Run 100M in 12 seconds by August.

3. Do yoga twice a week for 6 months.
4. Gain 1kg of muscles per month for 4 months in a row starting February 1st.

First Steps
What are the first steps to achieve my goals?

Get a gym membership by Friday.

Example

Do medical checkups next week.

Go to bed by 11 PM starting today.

37
2. Mind and energy

Life energy, state of mind, curiosity, mindfulness, self-awareness, and resilience.

What’s my state of mind? Think of the kind of energy you would like to have.
What gives me that energy and drive? How can I train my brain to be more
positive and grateful?

Vision
Write in the past tense, your vision of the best possible results in 12 months
from now as if this has already happened.

I felt energetic and positive most of the time. I found good in various events and
Example

learned from them. I practiced meditation and gratefulness 3 days a week and I felt
self aware.

Why do I want this?

Why does my vision matter to me? What will I get and how will I feel when I’m there?

Being in good spirit, positive, self aware, and resilient allows me to enjoy life, grow
Example

faster, learn from my mistakes and not dwell on the past. It also attracts more
people to my life, as I am more positive overall.

"There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle

or the mirror that reflects it."

38
Goals
Set goals that will help you achieve your visions and desired outcome. You can
use the SMART system to increase your chances of hitting the goals.
S – specific, M – measurable, A – achievable, R – relevant, T – time-bound

1. Meditate every day for 10 minutes for 90 days starting today.

Example

2. Practice gratefulness through journaling and reflecting on every day for 365 days.
3. Find 5 things to give me energy and do that at least 1 hour per day.

First Steps
What are the first steps to achieve my goals?

1. Find a meditation app that I like and install it.

Example

2. Create 5 questions to ask myself every day while journalist and set up time today.
3. Make a list of things that give (drain) my energy.

39
3. Field of activity

Your work, business and education.

This is what I do every single day. It should align with my purpose and vision.
If I am a student - my field of activity is education. If I am an entrepreneur – it’s
my business. Set the vision and goals for the next 12 months. What projects,
results, achievements do I want?

Vision
Write in the past tense, your vision of the best possible results in 12 months
from now as if this has already happened.

I finished this year at school in the top 5% of my classes and learned a lot of applicable
Example

knowledge. While studying, I also got an internship at a startup company where I grew
professionally and I have a chance to try all the things I’m passionate about.

Why do I want this?

Why does my vision matter to me? What will I get and how will I feel when I’m there?

I want to be a great student and learn fast because I’m passionate about marketing
Example

and startups. This will help me get the required knowledge to start my own business
in 3 years.

"Have patience. All things are difficult before they become easy"
Saadi

40
Goals
Set goals that will help you achieve your visions and desired outcome. You can
use the SMART system to increase your chances of hitting the goals.
S – specific, M – measurable, A – achievable, R – relevant, T – time-bound

1. Get straight A’s for all modules this year.

Example

2. Get an intern marketing position at a fast-growing international tech startup

by June.
3. Create a network of people (at least 5) I would want to learn from by August.

First Steps
What are the first steps to achieve my goals?

1. Spend more time studying and create a schedule for it.

Example

2. Make a list of companies that I would like to work at (this month).

3. Make a list of people on Twitter I want to learn from and follow them this week.

41
4. Finance

My financial situation. Net worth, income, savings, debt, investments, and taxes.
Financial security is a basic human need. Make sure to plan ahead, educate
myself on how money works, set financial goals and targets.

Vision
Write in the past tense, your vision of the best possible results in 12 months
from now as if this has already happened.

I reached a passive income of $20k a month which allows me to invest in learning

Example

and experimenting. This is a first step towards achieving a net worth of $10 million
in 3 years.

Why do I want this?

Why does my vision matter to me? What will I get and how will I feel when I’m there?

Financial freedom will give the opportunity to fully enjoy life, meet new interesting
Example

people, and invest in areas I care about (ocean clean-up, crypto, healthy food
production). Overall I will be more happy as I will have more security and will be able
to help my family.

“What you do matters, but why you do it

matters much more.“

42
Goals
Set goals that will help you achieve your visions and desired outcome. You can
use the SMART system to increase your chances of hitting the goals.
S – specific, M – measurable, A – achievable, R – relevant, T – time-bound

1. Hire two more people for leadership positions and train them in 6 months so they
can run my business without me.
Example

2. Invest half of my savings into stock market and crypto to increase my wealth.
3. Increase my salary at work by 50% by the end of the year by taking more
responsibility and bringing more business to our company.

First Steps
What are the first steps to achieve my goals?

1. Make a detailed job description of two positions I need to hire and send to my
network.
Example

2. Learn more about stock investment instruments and compare them.

3. Make one good deed this week.

51
Guidance for achieving Goals

1. Prioritize.

There are many goals to be achieved. The only way to make it happen is to
focus and prioritize. You can easily stack-rank the goals to accomplish one by
one. Your life wheel should help you prioritize: we recommend picking goals
from areas of 1–5.

2. Turn your goals into Projects.

Ideally each goal should become a project in your project management software.
You can use Asana, Trello, Monday, Write, Todoist, Things or OmniFocus. Once
you make it a project you can assign tasks for each day in your calendar and
move fast towards the goal.

The table on the next page will help you to various goals each month so you can
have a high level outlook for the year. This is flexible and it will be changed with
time, but it’s a good starting point.

3. What to do if it is unclear how to achieve my goal?

That’s an entirely valid question. Unfortunately there’s no unique answer or

magic pill. However, we would recommend three things:

ᴏᴏ Educate yourself on this topic

ᴏᴏ Find people who have done similar things
ᴏᴏ Ask for help from experts and coaches

52
Setting monthly goals
There are a lot of goals you’re planning to achieve! Let’s assign the main goals
for each month. We will also reward ourselves for achieving those goals.

57
Visualize
“If you can dream it, you can do it.“
Walt Disney

It’s no secret that the power of visualization is unprecedented. Let’s sit down
and try to dream of a life that you would love to live.

Dream it. Live it in your imagination and be bold. Be specific, describe actions,
feelings and emotions.

You can start by answering these questions:

What life would I want to live? Where would I live? How would my perfect day
look? What would I do if I had enough money to do anything? With whom would
I spend time? What accomplishments do I want to achieve? What would I feel
in each moment?

My ideal day

Paint my ideal day of life and picture it in detail and be as specific as possible.
Where do I wake up? Who do I live with? What do I do during the day? What
feelings and desires do I have? Where is my energy going? Who do I talk to
during the day?

58
59
Achieve one breakthrough goal:

A breakthrough goal will lead you to a new level. What that might look like?
Describe this goal accurately and be specific. Visualize it.
Example

Speak at TED.

Where do I want to focus my energy the most?

60
Essential Lists
These lists will make life colorful, fun, interesting and joyful.

People I will stay in touch with:

A list of tools and techniques I’m going to use

Write down the most useful apps and services to track time, learn languages,
run projects, do sports, etc. We have to learn and evolve.

Miro – for mind mapping

Spendee – to track expenses
Example

Spark – to save time on email

Morning routines – to have a lot of energy
Pomodoro method – to focus on one thing at a time.

Habits that I’m going to cultivate:

62
My 100 Dreams
All the things, dreams and experiences I want in my life.

The first 20 are easy, since many of them might be material and socially related.
The most interesting starts after number 30 or 40, when you become really
creative and think hard about what really matters to you.

In the end, the biggest gift we have is life itself and the experiences we get each
and every day.
Let’s enjoy the journey and the process itself.

Have a wonderful year ahead!

Did I reach my monthly goal?
What are my achievements, challenges, emotions — everything that
mattered this month.
What were the most memorable moments?
What am I grateful for?
What did I learn?
Who helped me the most?
What fear did I overcome? When was I courageous?
What good did I do?
