Personality Assessment Format

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is a personality assessment tool that identifies 16 personality types based on four dimensions: extraversion vs introversion, sensing vs intuition, thinking vs feeling, and judging vs perceiving. It provides a framework for understanding individual preferences in how people perceive the world and make decisions. By answering questions about these preferences, the MBTI assigns a four-letter code to describe each person's type, such as ENFJ for someone with preferences of extraversion, intuition, feeling, and judging.

Introduction

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is a widely recognized and popular personality assessment tool that
has been used for decades to help individuals gain a better understanding of themselves and others. Developed by
Isabel Briggs Myers and her mother, Katharine Cook Briggs, the MBTI is based on the psychological theories of
Carl Jung and aims to identify and categorize different personality types.
The MBTI is rooted in the belief that individuals have distinct preferences in how they perceive the world and
make decisions. It provides a framework for understanding these preferences and categorizes individuals into one
of 16 personality types based on four key dimensions:
Extraversion (E) vs. Introversion (I): This dimension assesses whether individuals primarily gain energy
from the external world of people and activities (extraversion) or from their internal world of thoughts
and reflections (introversion). It reflects how individuals direct and receive their energy.
Sensing (S) vs. Intuition (N): This dimension explores how individuals gather and process information.
Sensing individuals rely on concrete, tangible information obtained through their five senses, while
intuitive individuals focus on abstract patterns, possibilities, and future implications.
Thinking (T) vs. Feeling (F): This dimension examines how individuals make decisions. Thinking
individuals tend to base their decisions on logical analysis and objective principles, while feeling
individuals prioritize personal values, emotions, and the impact on others.
Judging (J) vs. Perceiving (P): This dimension reflects how individuals approach the outside world and
organize their lives. Judging individuals prefer structure, organization, and decisiveness, while perceiving
individuals are more flexible, adaptable, and open-ended in their approach.
By combining the preferences from each dimension, the MBTI generates a four-letter code representing an
individual's personality type. For example, an individual with a preference for extraversion, intuition, feeling, and
judging would be classified as an ENFJ.
