Week 1 Reflection

Step 1: Description
- The majority of what we did last week was the beginning of our class, the free write
about anything that was in our minds, the boundaries of ChatGPT connecting with our
reading we had, connecting with the Ladder of Abstraction. We also had an activity with
learning dispositions. The freewrite consisted of me talking about the noise in the
building and some other stuff. The ladder of abstraction was introduced, going from the
bottom with specific details, all the way towards extremely abstract as we go up. We had
ChatGPT summarize what the ladder was about, and we discussed that ChatGPT had a
very simplified version of what it was, while the reading went more in depth about what it
actually is. Last, we connected towards each other, and in a group, talked about the
topics using ourselves as examples. I chose to write about my own problems with
problem-solving/answer-getting.

Step 2: Feelings
- I was very tired, so maybe no emotion was the majority of it. Not because of me being
bored, but rather needing to get some sleep. I was very intrigued about everything,
though.

Step 3: Evaluation
- The experience went well. I had no problems with the assignments, as they seemed
pretty fun. This isn’t a normal approach from what I’m used to in a writing class, and it
seems to be a very good, different approach, which is what I like to see!

Step 4: Analysis
- I feel like this semester is going to be great, especially with all the news things that are
happening.

Step 5: Conclusion

- English is meant to be fun, and I hope that this class is.

Week 2 Reflection
Gibbs’ Reflective Cycle Questions

Step 1: Description:
● Last week we went over the four articles that we read at home, encompassing the broad
idea of reflection at our own work. As well, it was made with the Gibbs’ Reflective Cycle
which helps with reflection. We then started to look at topics to write about and create
into a bigger piece of work, ending with adding to a Wikipedia article about said writing
topic.

Step 2: Feelings
● I felt a new wave of happiness. I always like assignments where I can choose what to
write about with limits in mind, since it helps make the choosing process so much easier
while also choosing what we want ourselves.

Step 3: Evaluation
● I think everything went well! I understood the assignment and went to research on what I
should write about (social media/ rhetoric & etc.). I think the only thing that didn’t go so
well was actually turning in my work.

Step 4: Analysis
● I used the research tools provided to understand what I wanted to write about, and got to
it on time. Perfect!

Step 5: Conclusion
● I will be able to use it for my work on the future, and understand if another one of these
types of projects arises in another class!

Week 3 Reflection
Gibbs’ Reflective Cycle Questions

Step 1: Description:
● Last week, we worked on researching sources from CompPile to further our work on our
Project. In doing this, we looked at two examples at how they used a specific medium to
express their information. It came in the form of a video and “Starting Lines”. Specifically,
I looked up resources with the keywords “Social Media” & “Rhetoric”.
Step 2: Feelings
● It was a lot of work. I felt so tired researching other sources and trying to find the specific
ones in mind. That week I also had a ton of work (especially with a Calculus test in mind
this week). Just a lot of scattered thoughts that made me relatively distracted.

Step 3: Evaluation
● I was able to finish P.B 1.2 and move onto the third step, so it is currently fine. Need to
step up my work earlier however, as to not get into a mess trying to finish things on
Sunday.

Step 4: Analysis
● CompPile was good, but I could also use other databases, and also use ChatGPT for
anything small I need to find/understand. Still haven’t used my resources to the fullest.
Step 5: Conclusion
● Trying to do better this week!

Week 4 Reflection
Gibbs’ Reflective Cycle Questions

Step 1: Description:
● Last week, we were about to read more about “Writing about Writing” to help us with our
project. We then finished Pb. 1.3/1.4 during class. We read a new Starting Lines story
about Writing Style and Gender. It was about how gender doesn’t impact written speech,
just the rules and how much is restricted.

Step 2: Feelings
● I had so much on my plate outside of school that writing stuff and doing work was so
hard to do. I’m back and trying to get more focused on work.

Step 3: Evaluation
● I was able to finish 1.3/1.4 during the grace period, so thankfully I didn’t need any extra
time apart from that. I’d say it was a successful week.

Step 4: Analysis
● Learning how to be able to backwards and forwards chain is perfect for my other classes
that I have.

Step 5: Conclusion
● First start in a new learning process I’m trying out to actually get my work in for all my
classes.

Week 5 Reflection
Gibbs’ Reflective Cycle Questions

Step 1: Description:
● Last week, we did not have in-person classes. Instead, we were online, and most of our
work centered around finishing up our project builders and finishing up Project 1’s draft.
We also sent feedback to our fellow classmates before continuing on to our 2nd draft of
our paper.

Step 2: Feelings
● I felt good about being able to finish up the work, even if it wasn’t on time. It was a new
thing I learned how to do, and research I now feel is a tough job, but very good once
accomplished.

Step 3: Evaluation
● I gave myself a whole day just for feedback and another for the paper to be written, so I
feel like I managed my time better than before.

Step 4: Analysis
● I now know that I should be doing my work with a specific day in mind for writing,
especially since it's such a different mindset I have to put in, especially since all day it's
usually just science and mathematics.

Step 5: Conclusion
● I took the necessary steps to be able to complete the work on time and I want to
continue in this route.

Week 6 Reflection
Gibbs’ Reflective Cycle Questions

Step 1: Description:
● We finally revised our Project 1 and saw some specific improvements I needed to make
on my research story. Found out I needed to make corrections at least in how it flows
and add extra information to make it more clear. We then enrolled in the Wikipedia
Project 2 and began our research on what articles seemed to fit the best in which we
we’re going for.

Step 2: Feelings
● The project seems very fun to work on. Adding new information to pages (and for me,
social media’s impact on education) sounds really good for other people who want to
read about or research about it, too!

Step 3: Evaluation
● I gave myself enough time to do my work so it wouldn’t be a struggle, but I also forgot to
press publish, so I have to remember to press “publish” if I ever want to save my work in
a sandbox. It went very well in terms of the work being done.

Step 4: Analysis
● I understand that Wikipedia is a great choice, as long as you choose the sources you
place in to be trustworthy and can be a good place to find existing information.

Step 5: Conclusion
● Wikipedia is a huge place where you can talk about anything, and argue against
anything, to, in the talk section. I never even heard of it until now so maybe I’ll use it
more.

Week 7 Reflection
Step 1: Description:
● There was no class on Monday to reflect on, but rather a day to relax with the weeks
ahead that were coming up. On Wednesday, we went over another Starting Lines essay
that talked about how the essay came to be through her experiences. Discourse
Community was another topic that we learned about.

Step 2: Feelings
● I feel overwhelmed starting from the beginning of the semester and over time, it felt a lot
more manageable now that I realized how the work I did is coming out and helping with
my future endeavors.

Step 3: Evaluation
● I felt that I understood the assignments I’ve had to do, and the Wikipedia project is
something I’m starting to like to do. It seems very fun to be able to edit a section of a
page that people look at, depending if they do, day to day.

Step 4: Analysis
● I feel prepared for this project and don’t really have any words, but rather a lot of work I
can do to complete adding to an existing article.

Step 5: Conclusion
● This seems like one project where I can leave a mark on writing as a whole.

Week 8 Reflection
Step 1: Description:
● We continued on our Wikipedia assignment and eventually finished up most of our
Wikipedia additions to be able to add into our topics. We also read “The Control of the
Bacteriophage” by Angela Anhali Arellano.

Step 2: Feelings
● I feel that this week has been such a blur, that I wouldn’t even begin to tell what has
occurred between today and the last week.

Step 3: Evaluation
● I felt pretty good at the additions I wanted to make on the Social Media in Education
Wikipedia page. I added six sources (with some additions of a few more I’d like to make).
Slowly but surely I’m beginning to finish the end of my Project 2.

Step 4: Analysis
● I took more time before it was due and finished it earlier, which meant I could feel more
relaxed over the weekend and understand more of what I had to write, especially adding
more after I finished.

Step 5: Conclusion
● These Projects are getting a lot easier for me, and it is taking less time while taking just
enough to do it well.

Week 9 Reflection
Step 1: Description:
● This was the start of working on the final few things we need for our class. We started on
Project 3, the Portfolio, and read the starting lines about a reflective letter. Since we had
a workshop day on Wednesday, it allowed us to finish our work and get a good head
start on the final(s)!

Step 2: Feelings
● I feel like I have done a great job of spreading my workload these past few days, and
being able to be almost finished with the projects a week before gives me so much free
time and studying time for my other classes.

Step 3: Evaluation
● My body language feels a lot more free and I feel a lot less stressed being able to finish
up with my work. I won’t have to be rushing to get it in before finals week. I feel great!

Step 4: Analysis
● I have used my time wisely, and I have not procrastinated a single bit. It makes the work
so much more manageable.

Step 5: Conclusion
● Keep acting like this and I will feel happy.

Week 10 Reflection
Step 1: Description:
● The final week of this class! On Monday, I was pretty much all caught up with my
portfolio and autoethnography, which was what I did with the class time. On Wednesday,
we went along with our final reflection of this class, answered a big question that we got
from all the semester, and ended our class period.

Step 2: Feelings
● .I feel great being able to finish off this class period with a good feeling ahead of finals. I
loved doing the portfolio of all the things I did during class - its like studying but a lot less
forced.

Step 3: Evaluation
● This week has gone pretty good! I finished both my autoethnography and my final
portfolio, so I can relax and be able to think about if I would want to take any more
writing classes, or at least in a similar vein as this.

Step 4: Analysis
● I used everything to my disposal and the time has gone by pretty fast! I love it!

Step 5: Conclusion
● Writing is a great tool to use and a lot more fun to learn about it when your love for
writing decreased than skyrocketed when I entered into this class.
