Pudgy Pencil

What you’ll need:


♥ Worsted-weight yarn
o Pink – 8 yds.
o Gray – 4 yds.
o Yellow – 10+ yds.
o Off-White – 5 yds.
o Black – 3 yds.
♥ F/5 3.75mm crochet hook
♥ Two 6mm safety eyes w/ plastic washers
♥ Poly-Fil or any stuffing of your choice
♥ Yarn needle
Abbreviation key:
♥ sc single crochet
♥ st/sts stitch/stitches
♥ dec decrease (join next 2 sts into 1)
♥ inc increase (2sc in next st)
♥ BLO crochet in back loop only
♥ FLO crochet in front loop only
Notes: Pencil Pattern:
♥ “The Magic Circle” is used to start the project. If Using pink yarn,
you do not prefer this technique, you can start Round 1: Magic Circle with a base of 6 stitches
each piece using the following technique: ch 2, Round 2: inc x6= 12 sts
then sc x6 into the second chain away from the Round 3: (1 inc, sc in next st) x6 = 18 sts
hook. Sl st to join the round. This creates Round 4: (1 inc, sc in next 2 sts) x6 = 24 sts
Round 1. Round 5: sc into BLO of the next 24 sts = 24 sts
♥ For this model, I used Lily Sugar ‘n Cream’s Round 6: sc in the next 24 sts = 24 sts
100% cotton yarn
Using gray yarn,
Have some fun with this pattern! Round 7: sc into FLO of the next 24 sts = 24 sts
~ You can make a longer pencil by crocheting more Round 8: sc into BLO of the next 24 sts = 24 sts
yellow rounds. Instead of stopping at Rnd 15, keep
going till it’s the length you want! Using yellow yarn,
~ You can also add funny faces (using embroidery Round 9: sc into BLO of the next 24 sts = 24 sts
thread and/or felt) or place your eyes horizontally on Round 10-15: sc in the next 24 sts = 24 sts

Using off-white yarn,


Round 16: sc in the next 24 sts = 24 sts
Round 17: (1 dec, sc in next 2 sts) x6 = 18 sts
Round 18: (1 dec, sc in next st) x6 = 12 sts
Stuff pencil with Poly-Fil and continue stuffing as you go.

Using black yarn,


Round 19: sc in the next 12 sts = 12 sts
Round 20: dec x6= 6 sts
Fasten off and leave an 8” tail. Sew shut and hide excess tail.
