Session Title: " Cultivating Harmony”: Understanding Positive and Negative
Peace"
Session a) Describe the significance of Positive and Negative Peace concepts.
Objectives: b) Name scenarios and events of both positive and negative peace.
c) Reflect on personal roles in promoting Positive Peace
within the community.
Key Concepts: Positive peace refers to the presence of attitudes, institutions, and
structures that create and sustain peaceful
Negative peace focuses on the absence of violence and direct
conflict but may not address underlying issues or promote long-
term
Understanding and practicing positive peace contributes to
building sustainable, just, and inclusive communities.

• Begin with a brief discussion on
the general concept of peace.
• Ask students to brainstorm words
or ideas associated with Positive

pledge on promoting Positive Peace
