Music Theory: Chord Structures

This document discusses various types of chords and their construction: 1) Triads are built in thirds and tertian harmony uses triads. Quartal chords are built in fourths and quartal harmony uses these. Polychords involve playing more than one chord together. 2) Seventh chords are constructed by adding a seventh interval above the root of a triad. The quality of seventh chords depends on the key signature. 3) Exercises provide examples of writing seventh chords in four voices and analyzing chord progressions.
