Electricity in the Modern World
As society evolves and advances, we know how important progress is in reaching our goals.
Undoubtedly, one of the most important components of advancement is electricity. It brought us
to our current level of invention and remains a crucial source of energy. Its positive and negative
states allow for both natural phenomena such as lightning and artificial generation using
technologies such as generators. Electrons move and interact to form this energy. Heggie (2023).
In today's fast-paced world, losing access to electricity can severely impair communication and
prevent vital work. As a result, it is critical to investigate the role of energy in today's society and
the numerous opportunities it provides.
Electricity is an essential requirement in our modern era as it greatly influences our
standard of living. From our homes to our hospitals, electricity plays a crucial role in enhancing
our overall well-being. In countries with unreliable electricity supply, it becomes increasingly
challenging to combat diseases, preserve food, and operate health facilities efficiently, as stated by
Bridge et al. (2016). Energy poverty heavily impacts the health of individuals and households. In
the absence of electricity, people are forced to rely on biofuels such as wood and dung for their
cooking, lighting, and heating needs. However, this not only consumes a lot of time but also
exposes individuals to significant health risks. Burning biofuels indoors is one of the most
significant health hazards in developing countries, The Energy Information Administration (EIA)
reports that more than 37% of electricity retail sales come from residential areas alone.
Electricity is essential in education because it allows tasks and knowledge to be more easily
accessible and feasible. Technology in education enhances learning opportunities by allowing
students to examine other points of view and do research more efficiently. Online courses and
virtual classrooms have made education more accessible worldwide, erasing geographical barriers
and ensuring equitable possibilities. The future of electricity-based education appears promising,
as does e-learning, which uses electronic devices such as computers, cell phones, and the Internet
to obtain knowledge and skills. E-learning eliminates geographical obstacles, allowing anyone
with an internet connection to gain access to educational resources all over the world, promoting
equality and democratizing education. (Digital Learning and Transformation of Education, 2024)
It is flexible in terms of time and place, making it suitable for busy individuals and professionals.

E-learning platforms include multimedia information, quizzes, discussion boards, virtual reality,
and digital simulations. (Energy, 2023) It is also less expensive than traditional learning methods,
making education available to a wider spectrum of people. Electricity enables adaptation in the
teaching spectrum during the pandemic, guaranteeing that the learning process continues.
It also contributes significantly to our current environmental and social sustainability.
Sustainable electricity is defined as electricity generated from sustainable energy sources that help
meet the needs of current generations while not jeopardizing future generations. Sustainable
energy, which is endless, clean, and naturally renewed, comprises energy generated by the sun,
wind, and water, as well as geothermal and bioenergy. Sustainable power offers significant
environmental, economic, social, and technological benefits. It benefits the environment by
lowering greenhouse gas emissions, conserving natural resources, reducing air and water pollution,
and slowing habitat destruction. Economically, it creates jobs, stabilizes energy prices, diversifies
energy supply, and promotes investment. Socially, it improves public health, provides energy
security, fosters community involvement, and strengthens global diplomacy. Furthermore,
renewable energy encourages technological advancement and educational understanding.
Sustainable electricity is crucial for meeting current demands while preserving the future. It
protects the environment, ensures economic viability, improves health, conserves resources, boosts
security, and encourages technological innovation, paving the way for a more resilient and affluent
future. (Chhabra, 2023).
