Who are we?
A group of volunteers from all over Pakistan working together to solve all blood availability
issues and to break stigmas surrounding blood donation.
Vision
Our vision is to let blood circulate in hospitals to save lives as smoothly as it circulates in
our vessels.
Aims & Objectives
1. To eradicate the shortage of blood across Pakistan.
2. To ensure availability of blood to people regardless of the time and place.
3. To spread awareness regarding the importance of blood donation to the general public.
4. To assure constant blood availability for thalassemia patients
5. To encourage people to donate blood
1) Background:
March 2020, the very first day of covid-19, when people started avoiding getting out of
homes and were taking possible precautionary measures. Where it was the cause of
saving many lives, some innocent lives were at stake because of this. Here we are talking
about those people whose lives are depended on people like us, "the Thalassemic
patients".
Social media awareness campaign April 2020.
This was the time when blood wing social welfare society of KMC decided to help these
innocents, and this was the time when blood heroes came into being. 1st April 2020
witnessed the dawn of this noble organization, through social media awareness was
spread regarding blood donation with a brilliant response. 114 people donated blood in
just 3 weeks and other than those 164 more donors registered themselves. This 3-week
campaign lasted till Ramadan. During this time other colleges of KPK became part of this
campaign as PIMC, RMC, RCD, KCD, KGMC, PMC AMC, NMC BMC, KIMS and
northwest.
Covid 19 Plasma Warriors:
After Eid-Ul-fitter, towards the end of May 2020 there was a rapid increase in corona cases
and a new treatment came to the surface, plasma therapy, recovered patients' plasma
was injected into the affected. Blood heroes decided to help these patients a campaign
was started on 1st June 2020 with the name of "covid plasma warriors" that was restricted
to KPK in the beginning but in few weeks, we were joined by different social workers from
all over the country and the quest was initiated from Peshawar, Islamabad Lahore and
Karachi. The whole campaign was done through WhatsApp group and till July 2020, in two
months we provided plasma to 700 patients around Pakistan. Then this campaign that was
started in kpk, became the biggest campaign of Pakistan.
2) Recent Setup:
The Blood heroes' campaign 2020
There was a decline in plasma cases and an increase was seen in normal blood cases.
Thats why we again, focused on our first task and decided to do it with a new beginning. On
24th July 2020, we launched a society with the name of "the blood heroes". With this fresh
start we now have teams in kpk, Islamabad, Punjab, Baluchistan, Kashmir and Sindh. And
in these 6 months we donated blood to 2500 patients and the process will continue.
