Soil Mechanics and
Foundation Engineering
Dr. B.N.D. Narasinga Rao
Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering has seen unprecedented growth over the last few
decades both in terms of knowledge and practice as well as in its significance in civil engineering
profession. Over 1300 numerical and objective questions with solutions have been included in the
book. Questions from competitive exams such as GATE, IES, IAS, IFS, etc., involve some of the
subtle and fine concepts of the subject and their practical application, which cannot be gained by
simple reading of the subject. Keeping this in view, about 600 questions from these examinations
from a long span of over 25 years (1987 onwards) have been solved in the book.

Key Features
Fundamentals explained in precise
manner to help students present
them effectively in examinations and
interviews or use them in real-time
practice.

Emphasis on numerical examples

and objective questions. Over 1300
numerical and objective questions.

600 solved questions (1987

onwards) from competitive exams
(GATE, IES, IAS, IFS, etc.)

Alternate solutions have been

provided for problems which can be
solved by applying fundamental
concepts instead of standard
equations.

Photographs of laboratory equipment

and accessories are used for
explaining laboratory test
procedures.

To provide real-time learning

experience to the readers, problems
involving graphics have been solved
using MS Excel or AutoCAD. ISBN 978-81-265-3956-7 | Pages: 948 | ` 599
