Respect

Respect is the way someone treats other people. Waiting to speak, refraining from asking
too many direct questions, making sure no one is made to feel uncomfortable, and generally
demonstrating respect for other people's opinions, beliefs, and cultures are just a few
examples of how to exhibit respect (3Rs, 2016).

Relationship

the relationship between two or more entities or things, or the presence of a relationship. the
quality of being related through marriage or blood. The attitude and conduct of two or more
individuals or groups towards one another (3Rs, 2016).

All students must have a comprehension of current, cross-cultural relationships, which

includes:

● connections to family
● relationships with a country or location
● ties to the sea and sky

Reconciliation

Making one viewpoint or opinion consistent with another.

In order to address equitable gaps and attain a shared sense of fairness and justice, we
must first establish relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and
non-Indigenous peoples. This process is known as reconciliation.

Reconciliation Australia, the national expert organisation on reconciliation, published its

ground-breaking report The State of Reconciliation in Australia in 2016 to give a framework
for meaningfully defining and monitoring reconciliation. The paper identifies five crucial
characteristics that, taken together, create a full picture of reconciliation. These dimensions
are based on an extensive review of reconciliation in Australia and around the world. These
aspects include institutional integrity, unity, equality and equity, historical acceptance, and
race relations (3Rs, 2020).

Students who learn about indigenous culture and history tend to have a better understanding
of and empathy for indigenous people, which makes it easier for them to form positive
relationships. Additionally, this can result in better academic performance because students
who feel a connection to their culture and community are more likely to be motivated to
pursue their studies (Turner, Wilson and Wilks, 2017).Building strong relationships with
Aboriginal families and communities is one way that encouraging respect relationships and
reconciliation can benefit the school community more broadly. Schools and Aboriginal
communities can collaborate to develop more culturally sensitive programmes and projects
that fulfil the needs of all children when they form genuine connections (Tanner,2013).
