 It’s October again, and that means Halloween is coming! In
keeping with the Mighty Marvel-Phile tradition, this month’s
Halloween special brings you another bevvy of baddies and
things that go bump in the night...the Monsters of Evil!

Originally, I planned on doing the Halloween issue on

another group of bad guys mentioned here, the Department
of Occult Armaments, a k a, the D.O.A., a creepy bunch of
vampiric stormtroopers developed to be a terrorist army for
HYDRA. Looking further, I realized -- holy smokes, there’s a
lot of them! Alas, that will have to wait for another time.
However, I was delighted to discover their connection to the
Monsters of Evil, another occult-themed group of villains with
a much smaller roster.

The Monsters of Evil are a group of demon-possessed bad

guys who have only appeared a few times, but make for a
great bunch of characters for a GM who needs a few mid-
level, magically-charged minions to throw at the players.
Since they only have a few issues under their belts, a lot of
guesswork was involved in their stats, abilities, and
personalities, so feel free to adjust as needed.

One character who does have a pretty thorough background

though is Scream. The “teen girl Venom” symbiote character
of Andi Benton hasn’t been around long either, but she’s got
a detailed history that keeps crossing paths with the
Monsters of Evil, so we’ve thrown her in for good measure.
Andi’s got a convoluted history, so I’ve tried to keep the
focus in her biography on her dealings with the Monsters
and piece together her chronology as best as I can. Andi’s a
fun character who could be either a playable character or a
foil for the PCs. For most of her career so far, she’s operated
as Mania -- like I said, it’s complicated...

It’s also worth mentioning that the Monsters of Evil don’t

appear to have any relation to the Masters of Evil, except for
