1. Four major types of IS do you think is the most valuable to an organization?
The four major types of IS are Management Information System, Decision Support
System, Executive Support System and Transaction Process System.
In my opinion, the most valuable IS to an organization is the transaction process system
which is an information processing system for business transactions involving
the collection, modification and retrieval of all transaction data. Characteristics of a
TPS include performance, reliability and consistency. TPS is also known as transaction
processing or real-time processing.
Importance of transaction processing systems in an organization are handling of
operations where one distinct importance of a TPS is its ability to simultaneously
process several transactions. An up-to-date transaction processing system can
concurrently manage and coordinate thousands of customer orders. This allows the
business to make the selling process less complicated for customers and also provides
an online option to customers.
Untapped markets
A TPS gives business ease of sales as it allows the benefit of implementing a
transaction anywhere in the world. This gives the business a wider reach and enables
the business to reach and gain customers from around the world.
   ● It reduces the chances of error and saves money and time with the use of an
      automatic process.
   ● A TPS provides real-time benefits for businesses of all types. It is very vital to
new-age businesses, especially those with a vast Online presence.
…..
   ● The use of TPS in organizations is a key feature in improving customer service
      and satisfaction.
   ● A TPS allows for the user/customer to have a level of reliability and confidence
      during transactions.
   ● TPS is swift and cost-effective.
   ● The use of TPS in businesses minimizes the occurrence of error during data
       transactions.
   2. How do you critically associate the ideas of business agility and business
efficiency from the successful implementation of IT/IS.
Importance of information systems
IT systems can produce:
   ● custom data to help with a specific task or decision-making
   ● custom format (eg list, chart, etc) which can be tailored to the user need
   ● real-time data, particularly useful where fast action is needed (eg mechanical fault)
   ● archived data, particularly useful for reports, analysis and business planning
Other advantages of information systems
Technology systems can also benefit a business by enabling:
   ● operational efficiencies
   ● cost reductions
   ● supply of information to decision-makers
   ● better customer service
   ● continuous availability of the systems
   ● growth in communication capabilities and methods
To maximise the benefits of your IT system, you have to fully utilise all its features and functions.
For example, you can:
   ● Use instant messaging, emails, voice and video calls, and even chatbot technology to
improve communication with customers and suppliers. This could save you time, money
and effort, allowing you to react quickly to new work.
   ● Integrate various IT systems to reduce administrative costs. For example, you can link
your online e-commerce shop front with stock control and accounting systems to streamline
your processes. See how to integrate your back-office systems.
   ● Use labelling products with unique numbers and scannable barcodes to boost your
efficiency, and improve your stock control and supply chain management.
   ● Use different solutions, such as customer management systems or mobile technologies, to
improve levels of customer service. These may help you record, organise and plan
contact with customers, access customer details on the go and view customer interactions

It helps each and every business sector in automating their processes and
their systems to target objectives, generate revenue and reduce inefficiency of
their work. The value of Business information technology is increasing day by
day in areas such as in commercial transactions, to fulfill demands of
customers and regulatory requirements.
The purpose behind Business Information Technology is to fulfill the everyday
growing needs of industries and to fulfill the growing expectations of
customers of every field.
The IT department is providing a strong communication system to
communicate effectively.\
TPS enhances operational productivity of an organization through the following:
   ● Performance
TPS efficiently generates on-time results for transaction processes. By being
proficient it is able to process a large number of transactions at a particular time.
   ● Continuous availability
TPS should be a stable and reliable system that is not susceptible to easy
collapse. Interruption in the use of TPS in an organization can lead to serious
       work disturbance and financial consequences.
   ● Data integrity:
due to its ability to maintain the same method for all transactions processed, it
protects data and easily defends any error and hardware/ software issues.
   ● Ease of use
By being user-friendly, it encourages human interaction/interface and decreases
errors from inputting of data. It should be designed in such a way that it makes it
easy to comprehend and able to guard users against making mistakes during
      data-entry.
   ● Modular growth
The TPS hardware and software components should be able to be upgraded
individually without completely shutting down business transactions and requiring
      a total overhaul.
   ● Improved security
Due to controlled processing, only authorized personnel/employees are able to
access it at a time thereby reducing security threats from the third parties and
      ensuring smooth operations.
Business
Since the arrival of computers, the entire face of the business world has been
changed. To run the different departments of business swiftly, use of
Information Technology is important and it is possible with computers and
softwares. The use of information technology can be seen in departments
such as finance, human resources, manufacturing, and security. Role of IT
can’t be ignored.
   1. In the technology world, with information technology, the drawback of
time and distance in business activities has been removed. Now, buying
and selling are too easy. Customers can buy online from their locals and
      international vendors as well.
   3. Discuss the impact new information systems may have on organizational culture
and organizational politics. (how technology affect business working
      environment)
The people who know how to work with the politics of an organization can be more
successful than managers of less skill in the implementation of information systems.
With organizational culture being against change, new better information systems may
be avoided in fear of disrupting what is in place. Typically, in the event of this happening
technology becomes stalled and culture needs to be changed to allow for new
information system to be emplaced
   4. The e-Government Strategic Plan 2009 - 2015 was launched in May 2009 with
“Citizen-Centric Services” as its guiding principle. However, implementation has
been observed to be a bit slow. Examine some of the issues and challenges of
e-Government in Brunei. Suggest some Lessons that should be learnt from best
       practices.
Singpass VS eDarussalam
eDarussalam issues:
Redundancy in inputting information.
Traffic issues due to excessive online users.
Still integrates with traditional consultation - not all utilizes online consultations.

   5. “Knowledge Management is mostly culture and people, with technology thrown
in..” (Liebowitz, 2001, p42). Critically discuss the statement.
Definition: Knowledge management includes the collection, analysis, dissemination,
and general management of all information that is possessed by an organization. A
Knowledge Management System carries out these functions and follows best practices
to deliver optimal results for the organization using it in an efficient and effective
manner.
