of the West of Scotland. As my dissertation I have chosen to research <student inserts here
general area of research>. The University of the West of Scotland School of Business and

What is the purpose of this investigation?
This is an example text of what the student would be expected to enter here.
<This project addresses the under‐researched yet vital aspect of the literature on emotions,
which concerns front‐line managers and supervisors’ attempts to control and direct how
employees display emotions and what are their motivations and attentions behind them on a
day‐to‐day basis. This is increasingly significant given the key role the Hospitality industry
plays in the UK’s service economy. Its inclusion of front‐line service managers/ supervisors
in the empirical study provides a conceptual means of understanding and identifying
managerial processes and their management of Human Resources. The main aim of the
research proposal is to explore the role of line managers in controlling and directing
emotional labour and what are the motivations and intentions behind them. The proposed
objectives and questions must be answered to facilitate the development of a competent
proposal>.
