ALFONSO ANG MILITANTE INTEGRATED SCHOOL

P-3, Brgy. 26, Gingoog City

SY. 2021-2022

A TEACHER’S HEART

Communication is the key component between schools and community. It is

important to develop relationships that are positive and that will aid in improving the
educational environment of schools. In order to develop ways of communication
between schools and community it is vital that school faculty and members of the
community work together for the improvement of education. Schools must be open
to feedback from the community, both positive and negative, in order to truly effect
change that is needed.

For almost three years our country is still in the midst of pandemic. We
witnessed the shutdown of establishments, and schools are no exemption to that. As
the years past by, we slowly recovered from the disease that took millions of lives all
over the world. Education is greatly affected because of this health crisis, that is why
our Department of Education decided to continue the classes using different
modalities. Through this, students can choose what mode of learning he preferred.

The call to continue the learning of our students has been a great challenge to
all the educators. The challenge is how are we going to implement the continuation
of classes. Alfonso Ang Militante Integrated School considered all the possible
means to address this challenge. Not all students have the access to the internet,
they don’t have gadgets, television or radio as well. The school opted to implement
the Modular Distance Learning, where students learn in their own pace with the
guidance of their parents and with the help of their teachers.

To be able to implement this modality, the school provided scheduled

orientation to the parents, it was done by following strict COVID-19 protocols.
Teachers, Barangay Officials and other stakeholders were also invited so that they
could provide assistance to the school. We started the opening of modular learning
through dissemination of information (rekorida), we had our Brigada Skwela to make
our school ready and we also prepared enrolment boxes and placed it in every purok
to make the enrolment easier.

Teachers often communicated with parents through chat and frequent visits
to the school. Aside from the modular learning, teachers also visited those students
who are at risk and those who have problem in reading, they provided tutorials and
assessments. The AAMIS alumni extended their support to the school by donating
printers, bond papers and cash donations. Other third-party organizations shared
their advocacy to our school by giving school supplies and they gave foods to the
children. These act of kindness and generosity showed us that you can still share
whatever you have despite the crises that we are experiencing.

The school participated the search for Beautiful School: “Let Million Flowers
Bloom.” Teachers prepared their classroom as well for the limited face-to-face and it
was being evaluated to see if we followed the protocols in setting up our classrooms.
The positive response of the parents and students made our endeavour easier,
though sometimes there are unfavourable circumstances, the school and our
Barangay is very responsive and always ready to provide assistance. The distance
doesn’t matter, as long as we can provide the help our students need.

I was fortunate enough to have experienced firsthand and learned, many

different sides of what goes into as a teacher/as coordinator. A valuable lesson I
have learned during this time, were the many different types of work a teacher has to
perform, which in turn, have provided me with more insight into the different types of
roles and responsibilities that I could perform, as a teacher. Reflecting back to my
first day at, it was one of the most memorable days of my time at work. My
colleagues were very open and happy for me to contribute as much as I wanted to,
and were open to any suggestions and ideas. This instantly made me feel
comfortable and definitely made me feel as though I was part of the team. I was
overwhelmed by the work and the responsibilities that were placed on me, but with
the help of my superior and co-teachers, who had years of experience in the field of
teaching, I felt more confident and supported as I knew my work would be double
checked and any uncertainties were explained.

Talking about memorable experiences as a School Information Coordinator, it was a

worthwhile and fulfilling achievement to be able to bring the learning to the students
no matter what we are going through. Teachers need to sacrifice more and to go
beyond an extra mile to make learning happen. Our learners have never become our
burden. It is always our joy to bring out whatever they have for them to improve.
Moments can be captured through cameras, but the unexplainable feeling
that cannot be recorded physically is the greatest achievement a teacher can have.
No matter how strong the storm is we are always ready to face it with smiles in our
faces. There is no room for giving up. As we always say our mantra: “Para sa bata,
para sa bayan.”

“A teacher with a heart for her children knows what teaching is all about. She
may not have all the answers, but on this she has no doubt. When asked which
subjects, she loves to teach, she answered this way and smiled: It’s not the subjects
that matter it’s all about teaching the child.’’ – PAULA J. FOX

as a team and as an

outstanding teacher. This
shows that despite how
busy we are, no matter
how big the amount of
stress that we are
dealing, we never ceased
to try to improve
ourselves. We became an
inspiration to out co-
workers and to our
students.
Sometimes you just
need to breath, free
yourself from work and
stress. Take time to
smile and celebrate
every little
achievement. The
more we value those
little things the
progressive we
become. AAMIS
teachers never fails to
smile and greet our

inspired to do more.
