1 Service inquiries
If queries or problems arise when working on or with the linear unit, the first course of action
should be to attempt to find answers or solutions to problems from the operating instructions
themselves.
If this does not lead to the required results, the appropriate Service Center (see Section 2)
should be consulted. Before contacting them however, in the interests of efficient commu-
nication, please attend to the following points in particular:
(1) Have the type and serial number of the linear unit ready (see linear unit identification
plate).
(2) Prepare a description of the exact nature of the problem and how it arose.
(3) Prepare a description of how you have tried to solve it.
(4) Have the operating instructions readily at hand.
(5) Prepare information as detailed as possible concerning the linear unit’s application,
e.g. location, operating conditions, area of application (technology) and duty cycle
(D.C.)
Prepare detailed information with regard to how the inquirer can be contacted (e.g.
phone no., fax no., plant and department details). This is important should it be neces-
sary to call you back!
The following action is necessary if it is suspected that a problem which has arisen
concerns the linear unit’s interaction with the robot or controller:
(6) Remain by the connected KCP in case further particulars are required.
(7) Have the serial number of the control cabinet ready (see control cabinet identification
plate).
(8) Have the version numbers of the installed software ready.
They are obtained on the user interface by pressing the “Help” menu key and then
selecting the “Version” menu option.
(9) Have the message number and the exact wording of the messages in the message
window to hand.
When you have got this information together, please then get in touch with your local
Service Center.
