before deciding your choice in our would
you rather statement. (Answers may vary)
That’s right! Before we make our choice,
we analyze and evaluate which choice is
better.
That also applies in writing. Before we react
and write something about a critical issue,
we need to practice ourselves in doing first
a critical reading.
C.Presenting
examples/ This morning we learn to “react to critical
instances of the issues that demands sound analysis”.
new lesson
Let me present first our learning objectives

concepts and Before we React and Judge to critical
practicing new issues, we must ANALYZE THE
skills #1 SITUATION.
Critical Reading Requires:
Clear Understanding of the
author’s ideas.
Questioning and evaluating
arguments and evidence.
Forming own opinions
Reading text requires careful
understanding in every aspect because we
might understand it in a different way.
Steps in Critical Reading:
1. SCAN, before Reading
2. Underline, highlight, or circle
important parts and points. Make an
annotation.
3. Look over your annotation to get an
overall idea of the text. Then, make a
summary to solidify your
understanding.

- Analyze the author’s argument
and methods.
E.Discussing new - Develop your own idea, perhaps
concepts and into an essay of your own

Our lesson today can be compared to our
life situation.
When we first meet a person, we tend to
give our first impression by saying either
good or bad impressions.
Have you experience concluding that
someone’s personality in the first you meet
him or her? Yes ma’am.
What have you realized after you learn to
G.Making know deeper to that person. Who can
generalization and share the same experience?
abstractions about
the lesson (Students will share their
experiences)
Writing analysis is not as easy as we think.
It requires critical thinking and critical
reading in order to produce a good reaction
in a certain text.
In life, always remember class that it is not
good for us to judge someone base on
what we see for the first time.
Later on, we will be able to realize how
important to observe and analyze situation
first before making our judgement.
Direction: In a ½ sheet of paper, make a
short analysis about the story “The boy who
cried wolf”.
