We, the undersigned Grade 12 STEM students of the University of the Cordilleras-Senior High
School, are conducting a research entitled “Investigating Paragis (Eleusine indica) as a sustainable
feedstock for the production of bioethanol” as partial fulfilment of the requirements in our Practical
Research 2 course. The study primarily aims to explore grass alternatives, including Paragis, as bioethanol
feedstock, highlighting the potential health and environmental benefits of biofuels. To accomplish this, we
plan to a laboratory facility and equipment for the pretreatment, hydrolysis, fermentation and distillation of
the Eleusine indica to produce bioethanol. Please the attached protocol.

In relation to this, we are humbly requesting your good office for permission to allow the
researchers access to the aforesaid facilities to conduct their data-gathering procedures and also to be
provided with the materials, specifically, (6) 500 ml beaker, (1) 375 ml graduated cylinder, simple
distillation set up (distillation flask, receiving flask, thermometer, Bunsen burner, condenser, clamp, clamp
stand), 500 ml Erlenmeyer flask (1). Our proposed date October 4 – 11, 2023.

Rest assured that all policies on the use of the laboratory and equipment or apparatus will be
complied with.
