Once Upon ACable Blanket

This document provides a crochet pattern for a cable twist blanket. The pattern uses sport weight yarn and a crochet hook size F. It consists of 21 rows that are repeated to the desired length, forming cable twist motifs across the blanket through different combinations of single crochet stitches and front post double crochet stitches worked two rows below. The pattern concludes with instructions for a ribbed edging around the blanket.

Design by Lisa van Klaveren

www.hollanddesignscrochet.com

Skill Level: www.hollanddesigns.etsy.com

Materials: You may use yarn and hook of choice

with this pattern. Sample blanket used approx. https://www.facebook.com/hollanddesignscrochet

2000 yards of a sport weight yarn and crochet

hook size F (3.75 mm).

Finished Size: You may make this blanket to any dimensions. Sample blanket
measured approx. 30” square before edging.
Pattern Notes:

1. The fpdc (front post double crochet) sts are always worked around the dc sts 2 rows below,
rather than on the previous row of sc. The skipped sc are behind the fpdc you work.
2. Your stitch count should remain the same on every row.
3. Tip: If you find you have made a mistake and your stitch count or placement is off, double
check that you have either worked the correct # of sc sts or skipped the correct # of sc sts.
Any error will be easy to adjust (if need be) by varying the # of skipped sc sts on the RS cable
rows.
4. The top and bottom edges of the blanket have a tendency to curl due to the texture. The
blanket will flatten out as the blanket gets larger, but to help it lay perfectly flat when
finished, you’ll likely want to add an edging such as listed at the end of the pattern.

Edging:

Rnd 1: Hdc evenly around all 4

sides of blanket, working 5 hdc at
each of the 4 corners. Note: I
worked (hdc in end of next 2 rows,
skip 1 row) along sides of blanket
to get a nice straight edge. Join
with sl st to 1st hdc. (Ensure you
have worked an even # of sts on
this rnd, so ribbing of rnd 2 will
work out correctly. You can easily
adjust your stitch count on rnd 2 if
need be, rather than counting your
sts on rnd 1.)

Rnd 2: Ch 2, fphdc around post of

next hdc, (bphdc around post of
next hdc, fphdc around post of next
hdc) around. Join with sl st to top
of beg ch-2.

Rnd 3: Repeat rnd 2.

Fasten off.
