ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Material - Material furnished to B4E4A1, A2 and A3 shall be capable of being heat treated to the mechanical properties of
B4E4B2,84 and B6.
Imperfections -All material shall be free from pitting, rust and ripples. There shall be no objectionable surface imperfections
such as seams or deep scratches.
Edge - EMPIS Materials B4E4Al and B6 shall be furnished with a No. 3 approximately square edge produced by slitting only.
EMPIS Material B4E4A2 shall be furnished with a No. 5 edge produced by filing of a slit edge to remove burrs. EMPIS
Materials B4E4A3 and 82 shall be furnished with a No. 1 prepared smooth square edge. EMPIS Material B4E484 shall be
furnished with a No. 1 prepared smooth round edge.
Surface finish - EMPIS Material B4E4Cl shall have a surface finish no greater than 30 microinches.

(2) Camber is the deviation of a side edge from a straight line.
(3) The standard for measuring camber is based on any 8 feet of length. For strip less than 8 feet tolerances are to
be agreed upon between purchaser and supplier. Camber is obtained by placing an 8-foot straightedge on
the concave side and measuring the maximum distance between the strip edge and the straightedge.
CERTIFICATE OF TEST:
When requested, the supplier shall submit promptly to the purchaser at the point of delivery a certificate of test showing the
results of tests for chemical analysis and properties required by this specification. This certificate shall be addressed to
the section, unit, or person specified on the purchase order, and shall contain the EMPIS designation, the purchase order
number, and the quantity shipped so that the certificate may be identified with the shipment.
PACKING AND MARKING:
Material shall be properly separated by size for shipment and shall be packed in such a manner as to be suitably protected
from injury or loss during shipment. When lift size is not specified on the purchase order, standard ISS (formerly AISI) lift
will be acceptable.
Each shipment shall be legibly marked with the weight, purchase order number, the manufacturer’s name, and the EMPlS
designation.
