Reflection in Great Books
This subject has taught me a lot of things and those things are one of the
important thing that a college student should have. Those things are reading, writing,
understanding and reviewing a book and also patience. The Great book subject has
help me improve my reading comprehension skills and also my writing skills, it really
helped me how to write a book and essays. It also made me into a patient person,
which made me read a full book without any complain. This subject made me
appreciate the power of reading a book, it really enhances my vocabulary due to
encountering a new words from reading and also it opens my imagination to the next
level. This subject made me realize that reading is not all about the story itself but the
learnings and the experience was the most important and also the lessons and
messages that included in the book. I also learned about the great books of the world,
some of the book are very familiar to me like the “Odyssey by Homer”, it is quite
familiar to me and also I already seen its movie. I also learn how to review a book
properly. I also learn who is the great authors in the past which is the maker of the
great books.
The subject was very interesting because the topics were about the great books
of the past and as expected there will be more writing activities and essay writings in
this subject. The introduction of the different kinds of books, it introduce us to the
different kinds of books such as, fiction, non fiction and also literary arts. I thought that
there will be sharing of what books we usually read like love stories, sci-fi, mysteries
and many other genres.
During reading some books for the subject activity, I encountered some
hardships and confusions about a certain book which made gave me a hard time
reading. Some of the words are blurry especially when reading it on the internet and
the signal is poor. Some of the words are very deep and some words are new to me.
These hardships is very common especially to me a which easily get bored when
reading a book without pictures, every time I read a book, I usually prepare myself but
for some reason especially the great books are quite a long books, I tend to listen to
audio books in YouTube but usually I read the book chapter by chapter, maybe a 5
chapters a day for fast reading.
Thus, overall the subject was indeed a good one and has many things to learn
to. The essence of great books are showed and how important it is to study and it also
serve as the foundation of all books written today. The great books played a vital role in
shaping the world through its meaningful contents and the message. It is important for
us to appreciate those works, for it is has been ages when it is made and it is
considered as a world’s treasure.
